Gerber Vineyards

Gerber Vineyards Gerber Vineyards began as a small family-owned vineyard in 1989. Working in the Los Angeles entertainment industry, the Gerbers first saw the vineyard as their retreat from a busy life. They began making Chardonnay in 1993. As these hand-crafted wines gained popularity, the Gerbers wished to share the vintages with others, and expanded the vineyard. Now, their Laraine wines can be found at premier restaurants and shops throughout California. Over the years, Laraine and David Gerber would escape their industry paced life in Hollywood by spending time in the idyllic township of Murphys, California. In the 1960's, David, along with some college friends from nearby UOP, bought the historic Murphys Hotel, and in the 1980's he chose the area as the location of his television series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It was during this time that they purchased a beautiful parcel of land situated in its own isolated valley. After extensive tests, they found that the valley's microclimate and soil were perfectly suited for wine grape production. Laraine jumped into the viticulture business wholeheartedly, reading extensively, researching, and attending courses at the University of California at Davis while the vineyard was under development. David Gerber, a well known Executive Producer of such shows as the Peabody Award winning mini–series George Washington, the Emmy winning movie The Lindburgh Kidnapping Case and the Emmy winning series Police Story, named the wine after his wife, actress and viticulturist Laraine Stephens.

  Laraine Chardonnay
The Chardonnay opens with the aromas of fresh green delicious apples and Bartlett pears with the hint of toasty oak. In the mouth, the wine serves up generous fruit flavors of apples and citrus. Complemented with oak spices of nutmeg and vanilla, the wine has a long sweet finish.
  Laraine Chardonnay
Much has been written about the 2001 harvest in California. The best vintage since 1997, the best since 1994, the best since 1985; these are just a few superlatives which have been said by most if not all wine critics. We can't help but agree. The 2001 Chardonnay is perhaps our best Chardonnay ever.
  Laraine Chardonnay
Our 2003 Laraine Chardonnay exhibits the signature aromas and flavors of pears and apples, but also has characters of fresh baked bread, sweet toasty oak, butter, and spices.
  Laraine Merlot
The 2001 Merlot is a delightful and youthful wine. Scarlet red in color with rich red berry flavors, enjoy it with red meat dishes, hearty stew, or in front of a warm cozy fire when it is just too cold or wet to go outside.
  Laraine Syrah
Made in a very small quantity, (112 cases to be exact), this wine exhibits the fruit characters of plums and wild berries. Seasoned with herbs and spices and enveloped by toasty oak, the wine is supple, yet concentrated and has a long lingering finish.
  Laraine Syrah
This young Syrah has the aromas of fresh berries and toasty oak characters. In the mouth, the wine is full and rich with flavors of cherries, raspberries, cassis, and cinnamon.
