Mike Weir Estates Winery

Mike Weir Estates Winery Weir announced that all Mike Weir Wines will now be made in conjunction with Château des Charmes of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the winery that planted Niagara's first commercial vinifera vineyard 30 years ago and has the distinction of being one of the most highly decorated wineries in Canadian history. "Our goals for the future of the Mike Weir Wines were to continually build on the quality of the wine, grow our production, and maintain the winery's strong ties to Niagara," said Weir. "Partnering with Château des Charmes helps us achieve all three with their state-of-the-art facilities, a six-generation wine background and unprecedented premium grape supply. I'm very excited about the success that the Mike Weir Wines have enjoyed in its first three years and I am thrilled about the opportunity to partner with a true leader in the Canadian wine industry."

Products

  Cabernet Merlot
A ripe Cab-blend with a good dark personality. Look for deep dark fruit and some exotic savoury and pencil lead notes. This opens with air, revealing layers of cherry/berry fruit and some young tannins. Some time in bottle of decanter will bring this wine's best face forward.
  Cabernet Shiraz
The blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, while common in Australia, is quite rare in Niagara. From a winemaking perspective, the two varieties complement each other beautifully, with Cabernet Sauvignon lending perfumed red fruit, structure and backbone while Shiraz contributes ripe black fruit, peppery spice and rounded mid-palate flesh. The end result is a nose with hints of mint, concentrated red fruit and accents of fresh cracked white pepper. The palate is full of jammy red fruit accented by Shiraz peppery flavours.
  Cabernt Merlot
A complex Cab/Merlot blend with a good dark personality. Look for deep bouquet of dark fruit and some exotic savoury and spicy vanilla oak notes. This wine opens up beautifully on the palate, revealing layers of black raspberry and cherry fruit and some young tannin.
  Chardonnay
A clean fruity nose in the classic Niagara style. Aromatic bouquet of pear, with peach, apple blossom and hints of sweet mango delicately balanced with subtle French oak spice, vanilla and nutty characters. A beautiful cool-climate Chardonnay on the palate; bright flavours of apple and apricot lifted by creamy oak flavours of butterscotch, light toast and vanilla.
