Red Roaster is owned and operated by Beat and Prudence Mahrer. who moved from Switerland to the Okanagan Valley in 1990 and started 12 Acrea vineyard. As there wines became popular the orginal winery became too small. To meet this challenge, the couple enlisted the help of Naramata Architect Robert Mackenzie, and In no time at all a new winery was designed. Then Penticton-based DBC Construction took care of the rest. The new winery opened in 2004 is a ten-minute drive south of their original location, and now within the Penticton city limits. The site is charmingly rural and boasts breathtaking lakes and mountain views. Today they are one of the mosted sucessful wineries in Canada.. There are two separate, very impressive buildings on the site. One is dedicated to producing wine, and the other one was lovingly created for their guests' enjoyment. The winery produces Gerùrztraminer, Pinot Gris Riesling and Merlot.
