J. Jenkins Winery

J. Jenkins Winery The J. Jenkins Winery is on 10 acres located 2 miles north of Julian in a picturesque valley with views of Volcan Moutain. The winery property includes a new wine production building and a tasting room in a rustic apple orchard and a vineyard with Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir grapes. The inspiration for the winery was born thirty plus years ago after Jim Jenkins visited the wine country of California while serving his internship at UCSD. The dream was kept alive with amateur winemaking, as he practiced Pediatrics in San Diego. During that time, he was closely associated with the San Diego Amateur Winemaking Society and he attended enology courses at UC Davis. He retired from Pediatrics after 28 years of practice to pursue his dreams full time. On July 4, 2003, after 5 years of frustrating set-backs, the first bottle of J. Jenkins wine was sold! Jeanne Jenkins, the co-owner of the winery and wife of Jim, does not share Jim's passion for making excellent wines; she would rather drink excellent wine than make it! Jeanne is an R.N., massage therapist, and yoga teacher, when she is not helping at the winery. While Jim is making wine, Jeanne can be found in the tasting room answering questions about wine in a light-hearted, engaging manner. Jim and Jeanne, together with their family and friends, take care of the many winery demands from establishing a vineyard to making, bottling, and selling wine. Their goal is to produce beautiful, unique wines.

Unlike most, ours is aged in stainless steel, resulting in a nice dry white with a fruit-forward presence and an excellent finish. Drink this wine with a salad, seafood, or white meat. Serve chilled.
Our best selling white. Estate apples make up 100% of the fruit in this wine. It is light and refreshing, not sweet like you might think, and has a slight effervescent quality. It is best enjoyed with lighter foods like salads, crackers and cheese, or fish.
Bottled for us by Belle Marie Winery in Escondido, California. this wine is a blend of grapes that are typically grown in the Bordeaux region of France. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, and Malbec make this wine incredibly smooth and delicious! Enjoy it with full flavored foods. Serve at room temperature.
A dry, red with subtle earthly nose and flavors of cedar and berries. Yummy! Enjoy this one with your more savory, full flavored foods. Serve at room temperature.
  Pinot Grigio
Our first estate white, this peach-colored wine is exquisite! Some say it has a herbaceous fragrance, others say floral. No matter what, it is destined to sell out quickly! Seafood, white meat, or pasta will complement this wine. Serve chilled.
Our best selling red. It is big and bold with soft tannins and smoky characteristics. We've been told that it goes well with beef or chocolate, so we tried it with chocolate---its true! Serve at room temperature.
