FireClay Cellars

FireClay Cellars Visit our winery, specializing in award-winning wines made from sustainably-farmed grapes grown in our own vineyard. This vineyard follows a minimalist and natural approach to wine-making by using safe, ozonated water for cleaning. This allows cleaning chemicals to be eliminated from the process. Guests can taste, tour and shop while taking in grand views of the vineyard, from inside the spacious tasting room or on the wraparound deck which overlooks the vineyard. The slight elevation makes the landscape all the more appealing and also serves as a reminder that this vineyard is a farm. Tastings and tours of the wine-making facility and vineyard take place every weekend; please check our website for hours. Several award-winning wines are also available for purchase on-site or online.

  Appalachian Spring
This food friendly white blend was released on the first day of spring, March 20, 2009. A blend of 2008 Chardonnay and Viognier grapes we recommend this light, fruity wine to be served with seafood and poultry…even a cheese sandwich!
  Booger Swamp White Wine
Featured on the Jay Leno Show on Oct. 28, 2007 and in the Travel section of the Washington Post on February 8, 2009, our proprietary white blend of Vidal Blanc and Chardonnay, with a touch of Niagara and Petit Manseng, is named after a local rural legend. This refreshing “social sipper” is brimming with floral aromas and tropical fruits notes including mango, peach, apricot and honey. The wine has a touch of sweetness on the finish highlighted by candid orange flavors.
  Bugaboo Creek Red Wine
Bugaboo Creek was one of three Brushy Mountain wines chosen by an all-star panel of 36 women judges for their “2008 Wines Women Love Shopping List!” from 1600 international wines entered in the NWWC Competition. Skillful blending and French oak aging of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon completes our Bordeaux style signature red blend. Medium-bodied, with juicy red fruit flavors, enjoy with steaks, roasts, and aged Gouda or medium-sharp Cheddar.
  Chardonnay
Our 2009 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless Steel and aged sur lie in French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation for added complexity and structure. The wine is aromatic, with notes of toasty oak and butterscotch, along with green apple and pear. It has undertones of spice and citrus flavors on the palate, finishing with vibrant acidity.
  Chatham Reserve Red Wine
Brushy Mountain Winery proudly presents Chatham Reserve, as a connection to our past and to our future. We dedicate this wine to the memory of my grandfather George W. Chatham Sr. and to the future with our grandson John Chatham Mayberry. Chatham Reserve is a blend of our best barrels. The wine was made using traditional methods with little handling and aged in French oak for 18 months.
E&A Red - Red Table Wine
This is a light, Red Table Wine, that could be chilled and served like a white wine in the summertime. This wine is a blend of over 2/3's Chambourcin and equal amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The name honors the courage and vision of the people of Elkin, who conceived and brought to fruition the concept of the "Elkin & Allegheny Railroad" to serve all the way to Sparta, NC and later, into western Virginia. Initially, track was laid from Elkin to the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with the inaugural run on July 4, 1911. The Centennial Celebration was the July 4. 2011 weekend.
  Sweet Lou Dessert Wine
A discerning blend of European grapes goes into our sweet dessert wine. The intensely aromatic Muscat grape defines the succulent white peaches and apricot flavors of our “liquid gold in a bottle” wine —perfect for special occasions.
