Located in the heart of Napa Valley, Revana Family Vineyard is a vineyard and winery estate with a singular focus of producing world class Cabernet Sauvignon. For Dr. Madaiah Revana, it is the culmination of his dream to grow and craft wines of exceptional quality. In 1997, while traveling in the Napa Valley, Dr. Revana discovered a small parcel of prime vineyard land for sale, located just north of the town of St. Helena. He immediately sensed the property’s potential. The area was already known for producing some of Napa Valley’s most prodigious Cabernet Sauvignons and the gravelly soils, sloped pitch and excellent exposures of the property seemed perfect for growing grapes. Studies of the soil composition confirmed that it was an ideal location for premium Bordeaux varieties. After purchasing the property, Dr. Revana focused on assembling a team that could execute his vision of producing great Cabernet. He first met with many talented Napa Valley vineyard managers. Jim Barbour clearly stood out from the rest of the group and Dr. Revana asked him to develop and care for his property. Barbour then introduced Dr. Revana to winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett. Heidi, widely considered one of California’s greatest winemakers, was impressed by the potential of the vineyard site and by Dr. Revana’s intent of crafting world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. After carefully planning and planting the 9-acre vineyard, the team moved to overseeing the design and construction of the Revana winery. Situated in the vineyard, the understated Tuscan-style winery was designed with a focus on quality, efficiency and elegance. Its proximity to the vineyard ensures that perfectly ripe grapes can be crushed at the winery promptly and gently, just as the fruit comes off the vine. In 2001, Revana Family Vineyard celebrated its first harvest. Heidi Peterson Barrett has nurtured these grapes through each phase of their fermentation, barrel aging and blending; focusing on minimal handling with a goal of creating a wine with richness, elegance and distinctiveness. After eighteen months in barrel and an additional twelve months in bottle, the inaugural, limited bottling of 2001 Revana Family Cabernet will be released in early fall of 2004.

Take Highway 29 North through the town of St. Helena. You will pass Deer Park road after about 2 miles. Revana Family Vineyards is located just past Markham winery on the right hand side.

Revana Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby red in color with wide-open aromas of black cherry, cassis and chocolate. Flavors match the nose with emphasis on ripe fruit from our estate vineyard. The mouthfeel is big, lush and round with barely-there silky tannins. Lots of nuance as well; hints of tobacco and sweet toasty French oak keep you going back for another sip.
