The genesis of the wine story for Pear Valley began in the late 60’s when owner Tom Maas was stationed on an army base in Germany…in the midst of a vineyard. Here he learned to love both wine and the vineyard. Decades later, when the kids were grown and responsibilities waned, he was free to pursue his dream of owning and living in a vineyard. It started with 20 acres in 1999 and now Tom and Kathleen own 113 acres where they dedicate their energy and resources to providing the best environment for growing premium grapes. The vineyards are operated with sustainable farming practices to ensure that the best fruit possible will still be grown there when their grandchildren operate the farm.

Cabernet Franc
Currant and blackberry merge seamlessly with amazing spice; nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and sandalwood. Hints of coffee add warmth to the exotic, sensuous nose. Firm tannins, fine structure with a dense, chewy texture allow the rich spice and ripe fruit to integrate. Finishes with lingering cherry and cocoa.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Loads of black currants, cherry pipe tobacco, and generous toasty oak aromas, accompanied by gentle nutmeg and caramel notes. Intense black cherry and raspberry explode on the palate, coating the mouth with tiers of ripe fruit flavors, complemented wonderfully by the toast and vanilla.

Merlot
Lusciously ripe fruit on the nose, plum, boysenberry and cranberry with tamarind spice extract. Fleshy and juicy with a velvety texture, this wine exudes the beauty of balanced fruit and tannin ripeness. Silky finish resplendent with plum, cherry and rhubarb notes showcase the loveliness of ripe Merlot.

Red Table Wine
A robust wine, with a nose redolent of raspberries, roasted coffee, and truffles, accented with hints of dried herbs, vanilla, and toasty oak. Flavors of ripe red berries, currants and sweet spices evolve on the palate, finishing gracefully with a lush texture.

Syrah
Ripe, rich aromas of dried currant, coffee, black plum and white pepper, highlighted by mocha and toasty oak nuances. Cherry and raspberry flavors, with espresso and toast form the focused and harmonious mid-palate. Elegant structure with perfect balance, this is quintessential Syrah. Big, bold and jammy, with ripe raspberries, strawberries and black plum aromas and flavors. Accentuated with a nice touch of white pepper and a generous serving of toasty, cedary oak. Well focused and balanced, with a succulent finish that won’t stop. Exuberance in a glass.
