Closson Chase Vineyard and Winery

This winery began back in 1998 with seven hectares whenGeoff Heinrick and Deborah Paskus studied the soil of Prince Edward County determining that outstanding Burgundian could do well.
After producing sucessful wines Seaton Mclean and his wife Sonja Smits who had purchase a country home in the area offered to back Deborah leading to the open of Closson Chase in 2004.

Chardonnay
Deep gold/green hues. Both mineral and citrus, on the nose. Contribution of the wood supporting the aromatics of the wood. Very viscous mouth feel, rich and concentrated. Excellent finish with enough bitterness to make the 2001 Chardonnay a food only wine.

Chardonnay
Classic deep gold hues from extended barrel aging. Caramelized fruit, baked apple or glazed pineapple, hint of rising bread. Soft, supple, seamless. Lush but with just enough structure to hold the alcohol.

Chardonnay
Deep gold. Complex nose with evolving aromas. Integrated white fruit (pear and apple). Carmel, toffee and cream barrel contributions with a lengthy finish of pastry crust, tropical spice and white pepper. The 2003 is a tightly focused wine with great acidity and a persistent weighty finish.

Pinot Noir
A true ruby red. Highly mercurial nose, cherry, chocolate, burnt sugar, vanilla bean, and a hint of volatility. Minimum wood contribution, delicate, feminine, with a bit of forest floor and a soft fruit edge. Good length with ripe tannins and a strawberry tart finish.
