Meeker Vineyards

Meeker Vineyards Charles and Molly Meeker bought their first vineyard in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley in 1977, and thereafter, in 1984, established their winery -- The Meeker Vineyard -- with Charlie as the winemaker. In its early years, the winery specialized in Zinfandel, Cabernet and Chardonnay. The Meeker Vineyard tasting room is currently located in the 100-year-old Geyserville Bank Building in the farm town of Geyserville, about six miles north of Healdsburg between Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. In 2001, the Meeker tasting room was cited by The Wall Street Journal as one of the most enjoyable wine tasting experiences in all of Napa and Sonoma Counties. As Molly says, "If you enjoyed tasting in a tipi, try it in a vault!"

  03 Lobster Cove Chardonnay
“Refreshing,” “crisp,” and “fruity” are the perfect words for this non-typical California Chardonnay. Loads of tropical fruit aromas and flavors. No oak. Only 14% malolactic. Did we mention no oak? Great with seafood or any light summer dish, or for sipping beside your own island lagoon . . . that is, of course, presuming that you have your own island lagoon, in which case we’ll bring the wine.
  2001 Idle Home Zinfandel
Varietals Zinfandel plus a touch of Syrah. This spectacular wine comes from vines planted in 1885 - that's correct, no typo, 1885! - at Dave and Sharon Dowdy's Idle Home Ranch located in the cool Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County. The nose features peach, blackberry and black currant aromas with floral overtones, while in the mouth, cherry joins the same peach, blackberry and black currant flavors, supplemented by notes of vanilla custard, nutmeg and peppery spices. This smooth flavor combination is framed by nice oak and covers the tongue with breadth and persistence At Meeker we believe that this unusual combination of peach and more traditional Zinfandel flavors is attributable to this particular Zinfandel clone, enhanced by the cool growing district and a relatively cold wild yeast fermentation.
  2002 Petite Sirah
Varietals Petite Sirah, plus a touch of Zinfandel. This Petite Sirah is a superstar in the Meeker tradition. Produced from 17 to 23-year-old Petite Sirah vines grown by Gary and Demona Dibble in the Browns Valley area of the Sierra Foothills, it is peppery, and both sharp and rich like a good cheddar. One of Molly's favorite wines, we hope you will explore and enjoy our Petite Sirah.
  2002 Tutu Luna
Varietals Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Chenin Blanc. This dessert wine opens with incredible pear/floral/lychee aromatics, then dances on the tongue with pear, peach and apricot flavors. A healthy acid balance ensures a long life and prevents the residual sugar from being cloying. A romantic and delicious finish to any meal. Try it with Stilton cheese, sliced pears and salty almonds, with apple or pecan pie, or any great dessert.
  2002 Winemaker's Handprint Merlot
Produced only in select years, our Winemaker's Handprint is what all Merlots strive to be. It has deep, dark color, and its full-blown cherry nose is surrounded by toasty French oak. On the palate you'll find sweet fruit of cherry and plum, with hints of leather, cola and vanilla. And the lingering finish hangs on like a jumper who's changed his mind. This wine will pair with anything from seared ahi tuna to lamb, duck or your favorite pork tenderloin recipe. Enjoy!
  2003 Pink Elephant Dry Rose
Varietals A blend of Cabernet Franc, Valdigue, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Guwürztramer. Think of a sunny afternoon or a warm evening. A picnic at the beach, lunch by the swimming pool, or dinner outside on the deck. A chilled glass of wine, light bodied like white wine, but with a little more character, and bursting with a broad range of berry-fruit aromas and flavors, all followed by a satin-smooth finish . Or maybe something just plain refreshing after a hard day's work, before you turn to your more serious, classic Meeker red. That's it! You've got it! All of it! Our famous PINK ELEPHANT!
  MEEKER 10th RACK - "A Few Pointers" 2000 Zinfandel
Varietals Zinfandel, plus some Carignane and touches of Syrah and Petit Verdot. This newest edition of our low-priced "Rack" series offers a wide array of aromatics and flavors for your gustatory enjoyment. Start with blackberry and black cherry, then throw in nutmeg, vanilla and a little clove, plus a dash of toasty French oak, a pinch of tobacco, and a finish featuring caramel and cola. The wine has a beautiful mouth feel with a fine fruit and acid balance, and soft structured tannins. Built for your everyday drinking pleasure, this Rack is one "doggone" good wine!
  MEEKER 1999 FOUR KINGS
Varietals 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. From the first sip to the last quaff, this is one seductive wine. In the nose you will find plums, Bing cherries, brown sugar, red leather, cocoa and pecan praline (New Orleans style), followed by toasted oak and vanilla. On the palate, there's all of the above plus currants and spices, silky tannins, waves of flavor like ripples in a pond, and an exotically long finish. The well-rounded and luscious mouth feel just doesn't quit. We made it, we love it, and we hope you do too.
  MEEKER 2002 BARBERIAN
Varietals Zinfandel and Barbera. There's only one adjective for this Meeker creation and that's "BIG": Big aromas, big flavors, big fruit, big structure, big persistence. The huge, blooming nose of blackberries and caramelized brown sugar is followed by intense flavors of blueberry cream, cherry, black pepper and vanilla, all wrapped in a bear hug of sweet French oak. Go ahead - dive in - it can take it! It will pair terrifically with a thick hunk of beef crusty with a spicy rub, a side of juicy Portobella mushrooms, and a willing wench or varlet.
