The three Cabernet Sauvignon blocks come from the warmest part of the Napa Valley while the Merlot comes from one of the coolest parts. The blend represents winemaking at its finest. The wine was aged in new French oak barrels for 2 years. It is full bodied and full flavored with ripe berry fruit and hints of cocoa, spice and plums.

Rombauer Vineyards' 2002 Proprietor Selection Merlot comes from a vineyard in the Carneros region. The cool climate in Carneros allows for a longer growing season and results in a rich style Merlot. There is a strong burst of fruit complexity as the wine finishes with flavors of notable depth and richness.
