Lumos Wine Company
|
|
The Lumos Wine Company was launched in 2000 at Tyee Wine Cellars in Corvallis, Oregon with the encouragement and help of Barney Watson and Kelly Kidneigh. The 2001 pinot noir and chardonnay were also made at Tyee. In 2002 Lumos wines were made at R. Stuart and co. in McMinnville, Oregon with the help of Rob Stuart and Ben Frum. This allowed Lumos to add pinot gris to the wine list bringing the total production to 800 cases. The 2003 vintage was also produced at R. Stuart while Lumos began work on an independent winery space that is now shared with Tad Seestedt of Ransom Wines. In 2004 the Lumos pinot noir and chardonnay were made by Dai Crisp in our own winery while the pinot gris was made one last time at Rob Stuart’s place. In 2005 all Lumos wines have been produced in our facility by Dai with the help of Tad Seestedt and Jean-Jacques Clapie.

Lumos Chardonnay
This most amazing chardonnay is a Dijon clone, one of the few varieties that ripens well here in Oregon. It was fermented and aged in well-used oak barrels and is a clean, dry wine that beautifully expresses the fruit. It has a clear mineral component with bright acidity, and citrus qualities. An excellent food wine. 204 cases produced.

Lumos Pinot Gris
An off-dry wine full of ripe fruit and honey with a long finish. A big wine for a white. Delicious on its own, with appetizers, an eight-course meal or a good game of Scrabble. Best when served well chilled. Grown just north of Corvallis. 508 cases produced.

Lumos Pinot Noir
100% Temperance Hill; this wine has scents of black raspberry, peppercorns and a bit of red currant in the flavor with an addition of blackberry and a hint of red cherry essence. The finish has notes of nutmeg and warm spicy pepper, with absolutely no heat in the finish. The tannins are soft and balanced with a crisp (pun intended), subtle acidity. 540 cases produced.

Lumos Pinot Noir "Guam"
Produced from 12 rows of Dijon clone (777) pinot noir located in the farthest reaches of Temperance Hill Vineyard. Concentrated black cherry and ripe a'poile fruit. Big and layered with soft, fine tannins. A good acid balance that makes this a great wine to cellar. 105 cases produced - less than 25 left.
