Salvestrin Vineyard & Wine Company

Salvestrin Vineyard & Wine Company Our family has been growing wine grapes in Napa Valley for 70 years, since the day John Salvestrin arrived from northern Italy and began farming a 26-acre vineyard originally planted in 1860. For us, this historic St. Helena vineyard is home and making great wine a family value. We invite you to learn more about our vineyard and winery in these pages and to visit us the next time you're in Napa Valley.

Directions
To reach the winery from San Francisco, take the Bay Bridge to Highway 80, following the signs to Sacramento.   Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Our 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon, a tremendous Napa Valley vintage, boasts an intense garnet color. Its welcoming, complex aromas feature black cherry, black currant and blackberry fruit, along with a cinnamon / nutmeg spiciness. An ample amount of warm toasty and sweet vanilla tones are extracted from extended barrel aging. The wine has a full, smooth texture and rich dark fruit flavors balanced by well integrated silky tannins. Delicious now, this wine will gain further complexity with additional bottle aging. Enjoy!
  Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
This is an intense Cabernet. Allspice and cocoa accent the ripe blackberry, black cherry and currant flavors. The wine has a big structure, but the tannins are soft and friendly. The finish holds on to the ripe berry flavors with hints of toasty oak on the finish.
  Estate Sangiovese
Reflecting our family’s Italian heritage, Salvestrin produces a small quantity of estate-grown Sangiovese, the noble grape of Italy’s Tuscany region. Our 2003 bottling is a beautiful, layered wine with enticing aromas of cranberry, dried red fruits, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full and supple, with abundant fruit flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, a touch of pepperiness, and a long, fruit-filled finish with lingering flavors of ripe currants.
  Retaggio
This elegant wine opens with a cornucopia of ripe fresh dark fruits of black respberry, blueberry, blackberry, and plum. There is a hint of tobacco and leather that surrounds the fruit. The mid palate slowly fills in with soft integrated tannins and the ripe fruit flavors pleasantly linger long after the wine is gone.
  Sauvignon Blanc
The grapes for this 100% Sauvignon blanc come from Clos Du Val’s State Lane Vineyard in Yountville. This wine was tank fermented and aged six months in 70% stainless steel and 30% oak to preserve the bright crisp citrus and tropical fruit flavors that pair nicely with many foods.
