Stoudt's Winery

Stoudt's Winery When Bob Stoudt and David Bashore were in first grade they swore they would always be best friends. True to their promise, the two are still as close as brothers. They each served as best man at the other’s wedding. So it really didn’t surprise anyone who knew them when they went into business together, opening their Bashore and Stoudt Country Winery in Shartlesville, on the border of Lehigh and Berks Counties. For David, going into the winemaking business was a natural. A third generation fruit farmer, he had long made wine as a hobby out of the apples, berries, cherries, plums and other varieties he grew. His winemaking skills inspired buddy Bob, already an aficionado, to take up the craft himself. Together, this dynamic duo produces more than 20 varieties of wines from the fruit from David’s farm. Among them are apple, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, six different plum wines, three different cherry wines, apricot, and nectarine. They also make a unique Concord wine that is not as sweet as is typical for this variety. Hours: Thurs thru Sun 11- 6.
