Cottonwood Canyon Vineyard & Winery is a small ultra-premium winery specializing in Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Founded in 1988 by the Beko family, Cottonwood Canyon joins traditional Burgundian wine-making practices with American ingenuity to produce ageworthy and memorable wines. The now 78 acre estate was 15 years old and planted to 46 acres of Chardonnay when we purchased the property. To our good fortune, the estate was one of the original California vineyards planted in a north-south direction which allows for maximum sun exposure yet opens the vineyard to cooling Pacific breezes. The proximity of the Pacific Ocean, just 19 miles away, creates a heavy marine influence. The vineyard gets cool ocean breezes throughout the day. Morning and evening fog trapped by the surrounding 7000-foot San Rafael Mountains, to the east of the estate, has the greatest influence on the grapes. Located in the Santa Maria Valley, just 10 minutes east of the town of Santa Maria, we are at the northern-most edge of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. Cottonwood Canyon sits on an expansive sandy-gravelly mesa with steep canyons created through eons of erosion. Our Estate vineyards sit on the flat, open expanse with our first designated vineyard, Sharon's Vineyard, nestled at the bottom of one of these canyons on an ancient river bed. Elizabeth's Vista and Hillside Select vineyards are located on the south eastern edge of the estate at the edge of a loamy canyon.

Directions
From Highway 101 South (Los Angeles): Take Clark Avenue exit. Turn right. Stay on Clark until it dead ends at Dominion Road. Turn left and drive approximately 2 miles. Winery entrance is on the right. From Highway 101 North (San Francisco): Take Betteravia Road exit. Turn left and drive approximately 3 miles. Turn right on to Dominion (look for our sign). Drive approximately 1.5 miles.Winery entrance is on the left.

BARREL SELECT CHARDONNAY
Papaya and honeysuckle on the nose with a hint of coconut. Tastes of granny smith apple with a lingering lemon peel leading to a long finish with flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon.

BISTRO CHARDONNAY
Aromas of ripe pear followed by toasted vanilla. Full bodied, just a kiss of oak compliments the natural acidity of our estate fruit. Leaves a crisp yet lingering finish.

BISTRO SYRAH
This medium-bodied wine has expressive flavors of blueberry and spice with soft tannins. This wine pairs with smoked meats and cheeses, baked ham, oak BBQ'd tri-tip or grilled Portabella mushrooms.

ESTATE CHARDONNAY
Our most awarded wine in 15 years. Hints of lime, butter and oak in the nose. Flavors of Granny Smith apples, caramel and cinnamon create a spicy, rich mouthfeel. The caramel and butter follow through to the finish!

ESTATE CHARDONNAY
Crisp Granny Smith apples, tangerine and pear in the nose. Zesty lime notes come through in the mid-palate followed by spiced pear. Hints of vanilla, pear and spice in the finish. This one will age beautifully!

ESTATE PINOT NOIR
Offering aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a blend of blackberry and raspberry tones on the palate. Gracefully moves to a velvety and spicy oak finish. Must be decanted to allow the flavors to fully express themselves

ESTATE PINOT NOIR
A blend of selected fruit from our esteemed Sharon's Vineyard and Elizabeth's Vista. Cherry cola and blackberry aromas fill the nose with hints of rose petals and coffee beans. At first sip, strawberries and cherries fill the mouth followed by black cherry compote and vanilla. The strawberries and cherries are supplemented by vanilla and spice in the long lingering finish.

MERLOT
Berries with undertones of vanilla-coffee in the nose. Blackberry and raspberry flavors fill the mouth balanced by soft, elegant oak in the long finish. Must be decanted to allow the flavors to fully express themselves.

SYNTHESIS
A Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Franc (45%), Merlot (33%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (22%). Rich blackberry and chocolate in the nose follow into the mouth where they are balanced by toasty vanilla tannins and notes of anise, spice and chocolate.

SYROIR
Our latest proprietor blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Pinot Noir, this wine opens to cherry and raspberry on the nose with a hint of spice opening to a bold cherry flavor enhanced by soft tannins leading to a smooth but spicy lingering finish
