California Cellars

California Cellars The California Cellars’ family is dedicated to seeking out the finest means by which to grow wine. Our 100 acre Estate is located within a beautifully sculptured micro-climate bordered on the west by the Napa Valley, to the west is Calaveras and Amador counties and to the north, we skim the A.V.A. of Clarksburg. We are cooler than the Clarksburg region and similar to the areas of Carneros and the Russian River wine districts. We believe that our area is distinctive and hope that one day soon we would be able to bed down within our own A.V.A.. In the meantime, we are determined to develop great wines, here on Andrus Island. With the constant support of our winemaker, Bill Dyer and our vineyard director, Norm Peters, we are very excited about the future of our wines. In the next few weeks, we will be budding our vineyards over from our present Merlot block to 27 acres of Viognier, Grenache, Petit Verdot, Pinot Gris and Petite Sirah. We have very high hopes for the results of our Grenache and Viognier projects in the future. The Beaucastel Clone for the Grenache will enhance the colours and further the quality of this exciting variety. Matched with the exotic Viognier, these two blending partners will lead this area toward the reputation for creating our newest A.V.A. With A.V.A.’s it is important to recognize the distinction of the region and it’s pairing of climate and soils. California Cellars' mission is to provide our customers with the highest quality, a refined style and, above all, the confidence that we will always present a wine of t his outstanding caliber.
