Heslip Family Winery

Heslip Family Winery Over the last twenty-five years Brian cultivated his grapes, gained knowledge, refined the art of winemaking and married the lively Colleen. Together they produced many memorable vintages and a fine son. A gregarious couple with a passion for gardening, cooking and entertaining, the family compound soon expanded with a handsome Craftsman style stone building that houses the winery and The Guest House Bed & Breakfast. Encouraged by knowledgeable friends Brian and Colleen bonded and licensed the winery in 1998. The first commercial release of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir quickly sold out and established their reputation for making big hearty, fruity, nose-friendly reds.

Products

  Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Our 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is big and full, intensely colored with a good nose. Heslip Family Cabernet may be best described as "not a wimpy Cab", is sturdy enough to cellar but soft enough to drink now.
  Pinot Noir Napa Valley
Well made Pinot Noir creates a lasting impression on the palate and in the memory. The most appealing quality of Heslip Family Pinot Noir may be its soft, velvety texture, it is like liquid silk, gently caressing the palate. Heslip Pinot grapes were grown by Pat Kuleto on terraced hillsides above Rutherford in the Napa Valley. They are 100% Pinot Noir grapes, vinified, intra-varietally blended and aged in our stone winery. The grapes were fermented with old world yeasts, chosen to accent the luscious berry quality. This limited production was made with the patience and attention necessary to capture the wonderful qualities of this Burgundian grape.
  Sangiovese
A profilic grape, Sangiovese requires pruning fruit in July. This intensifies the remaining fruit that is necessary to the big, fruity, nose-friendly style for which we have become known. The crop of 1999 presented us an excellent opportunity to make such a wine. The intense deep ruby color is matched with suprising layers of flavor.
