Rose Bank Winery

Rose Bank Winery Perhaps Rose Bank Winery in Newtown best depicts the romance of Bucks County. Housed in a 1719 stone home and an adjacent 1835 barn, Rose Bank is surrounded by a flock of sheep and brings to mind the history of the area. While the buildings are old, the winery is somewhat of a new-old venture. Until February, it was known as In & Out Winery. Since 1984, Mike Selesnick ran the winery. But he decided to retire to Florida and put the property on the market. Developers wanted the property, but when produce grower Dave Fleming told Selesnick he wanted to branch out into grape growing and wine making, the future of the winery was set. Fleming renamed the winery after its original William Penn land grant farm name, Rose Bank Farm. And he set off on an educational adventure. Fleming has never been a wine connoisseur or grown a grape, but with his experience growing 400 acres of fruits and vegetables, books, assistance from other Pennsylvania wineries and great deal of help from Selesnick, who will remain lead wine maker via phone for five years, Fleming already is showing signs of success.. Production is up, sales have tripled, and the number of wines available has grown from half a dozen to 15. Hours: Sat & Sun 11 - 5.
