Lowden Hills Winery

Lowden Hills Winery Lowden Hills Winery, owned and operated by Jim and Sonja Henderson, is a small, family owned winery nestled in the picturesque Walla Walla Valley. Our distinctive wines are handcrafted in small lots, blended for complexity and depth of flavor. We use time-tested methods of winemaking and viticulture to assure you premium wines to be savored today and for many years to come. Lowden Hills Winery is housed in a historic red barn built in 1938 by Emilio Gugliemelli Senior. He and his family were truck farmers, growing and marketing vegetables and other crops that were processed and stored in the barn. When making the necessary improvements that were needed for housing the winery, it was important to us to retain the rustic charm of the barn. What once housed workhorses and livestock is now the main floor barrel room. The original fir flooring in the tasting room and loft, along with the large timbers were rescued from the old Blalock Dance Pavilion, circa 1920. Barrels filled with our most recent crush are on the barn’s main floor. When the wine has finished its malolactic or secondary fermentation it is gently pumped into the cellar for aging, about 17 months before bottling. Then it is bottle aged 3 months prior to release.
