Chicama Vineyards

Chicama Vineyards Chicama Vineyards, on the island of Martha's Vineyard, was founded by Catherine and George Mathiesen in 1971 and is operated today by three generations of the same family. It is the first bonded winery in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The winery produces a range of fine wines and a variety of foods including wine vinegars, mustards, chutneys and jams.

Transportation to Martha's Vineyard is by ferryboat. Although foot passengers don't need a reservation, one is almost always necessary for automobiles. Contact the Steamship Authority at or 508-693-8600 for more information. To reach Chicama Vineyards, take the ferry from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven. Leave Vineyard Haven on State Rd., following the signs towards West Tisbury and Aquinnah. Go two and a half miles - you'll see the Chicama Vineyards sign on the left. Turn left and follow the dirt road one mile to the winery.

  Hurricane Chardonnay
This light white wine has a silken texture and a harmonious balance between fruit, alcohol, and acidity. Serve it to friends and family with Sole Bonne Femme or Spanish Paella.
This vibrant red wine is rich and flavorful without being heavy. Pair Merlot with your finest beef tenderloin or with lamb.
We've blended Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz to make this rich, appealing red. Enjoy it with red pepper ravioli, Asparagus Risotto, or Herbed Roast Chicken.
  Sauvignon Blanc
Have this charming, soft and delicately aromatic wine with steamed lobster or grilled bluefish.
Named after a city in ancient Persia, this stylish wine, with its intense blackberry and cherry flavors, is ready to drink now but will continue to develop over time. Serve it with Chicken Parmesan, rustic pizza or grilled vegetables.
  Summer Island Red
This soft red is good for drinking right now. Take it to the beach and have with grilled Teriyaki Chicken or with your catch of the day.
Made entirely from Viognier grapes, one of the classic Rhone varietals, this wine is rich and reminiscent of peaches, pears and apricots. Marvelous with linguini in cream sauce or a goat cheese soufflé.
