Quails' Gate Vineyards Estate Winery Dick Stewart and his son Ben opened Quails’ Gate Estate Winery in Kelowna, in 1989. Their passion was Pinot Noir and the desire to prove red wines could flourish on the south-facing slope of Mount Boucherie, the soil been a mixture of volcanic rock and clay.The Wineshop is situated in a carefully restored log cabin which was the original home of Okanagan Valley pioneers John and Susan Allison who arrived in the area circa 1873. The shop is open daily from 10 am until 5 pm and carries a full range of wine related products and accessories. Quails’ Gate is known as an industry leader in the area of viticulture and places a huge emphasis on the development of exceptional wines through the research of new experimental varietal clones and canopy management techniques with high-density plantings. Since 1996 more than 60 acres have been planted with 75,000 new vines.

Quails' Gate Estate Winery is located on the west side of Lake Okanagan. From Kelowna, after crossing the floating bridge, turn south (left) off Highway 97 at Boucherie Road (2nd set of traffic lights) and look for our Wineshop at the corner of Boucherie and Sunnyside (an approximate 5 minute drive from Highway 97) .   Botrytis Affected Optima
This delectable dessert wine exhibits a very aromatic profile of baked pear, fig, orange and ripe citrus with a classic honey bees wax note derived from the Botrytis mould. The palate is full of candied sweetness balanced by firm natural acidity. This wine is best served slightly chilled and pairs well with dishes that incorporate foie gras as a key ingredient, but also with fruit desserts or Cambozola cheese.
  Family Reserve Chardonnay
Citrus and stone fruits combine with delicate sprinklings of ginger and cinnamon. There is a toasty, biscuity character that is engrained in the wine by the french oak barrel fermentation. An excellent harmony of ripe fruit, toasty oak and youthful mouthwatering acidity. We recommend trying this with west coast crab cakes and remoulade sauce.
  Family Reserve Fumé Blanc
A rush of exhuberant fruit on the palate; canteloupe and mandarin orange as well as yellow bell peppers with lemon and lime notes on the finish. Our Fumé Blanc is crisp & racy with palate weight enhanced by the barrel fermented portion of the blend. This is food wine, perfect with seafood & seasonal salads or try it with a goat cheese spinach terrine.
  Family Reserve Merlot
This wine shows classic plummy characteristics with fine ripe tannins providing a velvety texture and substantial palate weight. There is a savoury edge which enriches the old world complexity, and spicy cigar box notes help complete the package. This is a big wine for big food! Our merlot makes an excellent match to venison or beef, we recommend venison tenderloin wrapped with wild boar bacon.
  Family Reserve Pinot Noir
Dark plum and rich spice aromas mingle with intense chocolate and coffee notes. These elements are woven seamlessly with contrasting earthy, feral undertones. A solid core of persistent silky tannins runs through, giving loads of body and textural pleasure. The wine engages you with precise and opulent red fruits and its finale is long and lingering. Try with roasted duck breast with an Okanagan cherry reduction.
  FVF (Fortified Vintage Foch)
Our FVF possesses aromas of coffee, mocha and dark chocolate mingled with dark fruits and complex Foch notes. A rich round palate with residual fruit sweetness and fine grain tannins make this a great after dinner crowd pleaser.
  Limited Release Chardonnay
The 2005 version is crisp and fresh. A sweet floral honey-note zingy acidity and flinty characters combine with ripe tropical citrus and toasty oak to make a versatile food friendly chardonnay. Try serving it with seafood risotto or a smoked trout mousse.
  Limited Release Chasselas-Pinot Blanc
True to style this wine is made for summer! Essence of clean, fresh and bright Okanagan fruit can be found on the palate. An edge of discernable sweetness combines with racy acidity to produce this simple but seductive wine. Try this classic summer wine with a tomato and bocconcini salad with fresh basil or perhaps pan-fried snapper with a corn, papaya and cilantro salsa.
  Limited Release Chenin Blanc
A rush of exuberant fruit flavours, zesty lemons and limes together with notes of melon and passion fruit lingering on the finish. The barrel portion of the blend provides a lush palate and complex aromas. It is crisp with genuine fruit sweetness to balance the firm acidity that makes this wine so perfect with oysters and shellfish. A classic pairing with this wine is Malpeque oysters with a champagne vinegar mignonette.
  Limited Release Dry Riesling
Aromas of honeydew melon, green tea and limey mineral notes combine with a fresh juicy palate of green apple acidity and genuine fruit sweetness. Together this has made for a highly versatile wine to be enjoyed with or without food. We recommend it with prosciutto wrapped chicken breast stuffed with basil and oven dried tomatoes.
  Limited Release Gewurztraminer
This Gewürztraminer abounds with intense flavours of lychee, aromas of rose petal and cinnamon spice. Crisp and fresh with some residual fruit sweetness which fattens and adds weight to the spicy mid-palate. Lovely with spicy Asian influenced fusion food or try it with roast turkey and all the fixings.
  Limited Release Merlot
Deeply coloured, with attractive floral characters overlaying notes of liquorice spice, plum and vanilla cream. An integrated palate of fine ripe tannins, this vintage also shows plummy sweet fruit with layers of toasty smoky oak. A savory edge gives good complexity to the powerful finish.
  Limited Release Old Vines Foch
Very dark and inky in colour, with powerful aromatics of dark brooding black fruits, sweet oak and earthy savoury complexities that are only found in Marechal Foch. The palate is rich and round with soft lush tannins. This wine makes a terrific accompaniment to braised lamb shoulder, venison or goat cheese ravioli.
  Limited Release Pinot Noir
Wonderfully fragrant with red fruit, sour cherry as well as exotic spice and dark chocolate, cocoa notes. Underpinning this fruit are the lovely savoury, gamey, pinot complexities. With hints of leather and sweet tobacco this Pinot Noir has a texture of silk and satin and is supple with a lingering full flavoursome finish. Maximum power without maximum weight. Tempt your taste buds with this wine and wild boar with roasted beet puree and braised cabbage.
  Old Vines Foch Reserve
Flavoursome and uniquely Quails Gate, this cult classic displays brooding dark berry fruits that mingle with chocolate mocha aromas. Look for spicy, smoky, toasted oak notes with a gamey edge. Soft, ripe tannins linger in the background while the palate remains full with a rich and powerful finish. Excellent with Bison and dark chocolate or try it with coffee crusted beef tenderloin with golden beet and blue cheese puree.
  Riesling Icewine
Very aromatic with sweet baked apple, spice and savory notes that mingle with ripe citrus and dried fruit characteristics. The palate is crisp and fresh with an excellent balance of racy acidity and genuine fruit sweetness. Icewine is best served chilled and makes an excellent partner to strong cheeses such as Stilton or try it with a white chocolate cheese cake for even more decadence!
