Peaceful Bend Vineyard

Peaceful Bend Vineyard Katie and Clyde Gill have created the perfect marriage of vineyard and cellars at Peaceful Bend Vineyard. Just four miles northwest of the historic town of Steelville, Missouri, Peaceful Bend is perched above the clear, spring-fed waters of the Meramec River. Romance and relaxation are the goals at this vineyard. Nestled into the northern hills of the Ozarks, Peaceful Bend Vineyard’s winery and guest cottage are surrounded by their vineyards. They are one of the six wineries that make up the Ozark Highlands Viticultural Area. The romantic atmosphere, gift shop/tasting room, and of course great wine make Peaceful Bend Vineyard a wonderful place to visit. Open year-round from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays; 10:00 am – 6:00 pm on Saturdays and 12 noon – 5:00 pm on Sundays. Closed Mondays.

Products

  Barrel Fermented Chardonel
Ultra Premium Dry White
  Concord
Crafted from 100% Concord Grapes grown in the Meramec Vineyards of St. James Missouri, by Phyllis Meagher. Fermenting on the skins extracts all the wonderful flavors and colors associated with Concord.
  Courtois
Made from enough Cayuga Blanc grapes of Callaway County, Missouri to be considered a varietal wine, but has some Chardonel of St. James, Missouri blended in to add some extra depth and balance the wine.
  Forché Renault
Current vintage* made from equal parts of Villard Noir, St. Vincent and Norton with an added 10% Chelois grapes from Robller Vineyard. Aged in "second use" Missouri Oak barrels from McGinnis Cooperage, rounding out a lighter style, approachable red with cherry fruits and spicy finish.
  Harvest Mist
Formally known as "Honey Mist", but still the same award winning wine. An equal blend of Chardonel and Seyval developed a very honey-like aroma. Just a little sweetness makes Harvest Mist our most versatile wine.
  Huzzah Valley
Made from Catawba Grapes grown by Phyllis Meagher in the Meramec Vineyards of St. James Missouri. Long cool fermentations produced the distinct varietal Catawba flavors and aromas of grapefruit and cotton candy.
  Late Harvest Chardonel
Jack and Joal Russel were gracious enough to once again take the gamble on a Late Harvest style wine from some of their Chardonel grapes. And once again the result is this wonderful, now award winning version of a botritys dessert style wine.
  Meramec
Made from 66% Chambourcin blended from LeLyon Vineyard (ask me about these guys) with 34% Norton from Robller Vineyards. Once again this is a vintage wine that is not labeled as such. The 2003 growing season was a particularly hot one here in Missouri, with the KC region (LeLyon) seeing triple digits for well over a week. Color was not a problem, but some of the chemistry was off. Everything worked out rather well after blending these two dramatically different regions, but similar wines.
  Sweet River White
This wine was made from 100% Chardonel grapes which were grown by Jack and Joal Russell of St. Gen. County Missouri. Tantalizingly sweet with a sturdy, acidic backbone. Predominent notes of pear and apple with a hint of pineapple to round out a full spectrum of flavors and aromas.
  Whittenburg
Chardonel and Seyval were married together to make Whittenburg an exceptionally sippable wine. Lots of peachy aromas with some citrus and other tropical fruit flavors.
