Why is Acquiesce Winery growing white Rhone-style grapes in Zin country? In 2005, Susan Tipton, Acquiesce Winery’s founder and winemaker, happened upon a beautiful white Châteauneuf-du-Pape and found it the most delicious wine she had ever tasted. Thus began her journey to craft these fantastic wines. Since Lodi has a climate similar to the Rhone region, Susan sourced cuttings from the famous Château de Beaucastel in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region of France for her first Grenache Blanc plantings. Thrilled by the union of these special vines and Lodi’s sandy loam soils, Susan says, “These wines speak to me . . . it was like finding a secret recipe. We acquiesce to the vineyard allowing its true personality to shape the wine.”
