MORAGA Vineyards is a winegrowing estate in Bel Air, a community in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The 16 acre ranch is where Tom and Ruth Jones have lived for over 40 years. The Joneses were inspired to pursue winegrowing in Moraga Canyon because of the characteristics of the microclimate and the soil which is similar to Bordeaux, France. The climate is both wetter and cooler than the surrounding areas. The soil varies from deep gravel beds in the canyon bottom providing the perfect site for Sauvignon Blanc; to hillsides composed of an uplifted sandstone seabed with a strata of limestone containing marine fossils and shells, This is the home of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Moraga Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is aged in the finest French oak chateau barrels for approximately 20 months and is then bottled and aged for over a year prior to release. Moraga White is a blend of two clones of Sauvignon Blanc. Most of the Sauvignon Blanc is aged in stainless steel barrels and the rest is aged in French oak barrels.
Every effort is taken in the vineyard and winery to produce the highest quality wine possible that reflects the character of this truly special place called Moraga.
