Edgewood Estate Winery

Edgewood Estate Winery In 1891, Peterson sold the winery to Robert Bergfeld, who spent the next 25 years developing the business under his own name until circumstances forced its closure shortly after the 1906 earthquake. In 1910, the winery changed hands again. Theodore Gier bought Bergfeld Winery and expanded it to serve as the base of a winemaking operation that stretched as far south as Livermore. In 1934, a collection of innovative winegrape growers formed the Napa Valley Cooperative and bought the estate in 1935. Over the next 60 years, the Cooperative revamped the winemaking facilities and resurrected the Bergfeld name. In 1994, the landmark property was purchased by the O'Neill family of Golden State Vintners and reopened as Edgewood Estate Winery. Today, Edgewood Estate produces over 20,000 cases of award-winning, ultra-premium wines annually. While known for the production of Napa Valley Bordeaux varietals, Edgewood Estate also produces select varietals from other premier California appellations.
