Wilhelm Winery

Wilhelm Winery Established in 2000 Wilhelm Winery was created from a passion for winemaking that started in a basement and grew into a full-scale business. First introduced to winemaking as a young man, Gary Rhodes' passion for wine and the art of it's creation spans 42 years. This passion began in the basement of Gary's High School principal where Gary learned the basics of winemaking and a familiar anecdote about homemade wine. 'What was good at Christmas was drinkable at Easter and garbage by the 4th of July.' After returning home from college, Gary went back to see his High School principal but his tastes had matured and his desire for more formal training grew. Dr. Al Wolfe was the winemaster and Gary Rhodes the protégé. Soon Gary was making his own wine in his own basement. Having honed this art in his basement, and producing variatles that grew in popularity locally, Gary Rhodes was soon joined by Gary Shilling. Together, the Gary's began the journey of exploration into more sophisticated techniques and realized that their wines were indeed of a quality worth sharing, not only with their fortunate friends but the general public as well. The Gary's were soon joined by a third wine enthusiast who also decided to not only join the blossoming wine family but join Gary Shilling in a different partnership - marriage. The marriage of Gary and Trish completed the successful triune of Wilhelm Winery owners, adding its own dimension to the business. Hours: Thur thru Sun 12- 6.
