  ‘00 Sauvignon Blanc

A delightful wild strawberry bouquet scents this delicate, aromatic wine. Light and lively, a true Pinot Noir in character. A classic for fish, particularly fresh wild salmon.

  ’98 Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Reserve’
This wine is about elegance and complexity. A wine for contemplation and intimate conversation at the dinner table. It is a multi-faceted Object d'Art. A bouquet of unusual grace. A palate of real elegance, symmetry, lacy purity of fruit, refined focus of beauty and proportion.
  '01 Mediterranean Red
An outstanding Rhone style blend of Grenache, Sangiovese and Syrah. Dark color. A fascinating nose combines earthy, spicy warmth with a delicate, fragrant, flowery intensity reminiscent of sweet peas and violets. Medium bodied, firm, and round with ripe fruit and spicy elegance. Youthful with a long finish. Serve with char-grilled meat, game or Mediterranean cuisine.
  '01 Sangiovese
The grape of Tuscany, Sangiovese produces the light cheerful wines of Chianti. Ours is made in this Italian style. A dusty plum nose is followed by red currant fruit flavors with a refreshing lively acidity. Perfect with pasta, tomato, basil and mozzarella.
  '01 Syrah
Very dark black-purple. A typical nose of autumn forests, wet earth, and delicate wild flowers (violets). Medium-full bodied, concentrated, soft, round and chewy, with dense, very ripe resiny fruit, black olives, and a spicy herbal finish.
  '02 Chardonnay
Rich and mouth-filling with the typical varietal flavors and lusciousness. Fruity with complex minerals, freshly baked bread and nutty nuances. Good acidity, clean finish. Ideal for char-grilled salmon steak, chicken in white wine sauce, or shrimp salad.
  '02 Roussanne
An exceptional wine! Our new vintage shows a herbal, honey and oak nose layered with a flinty quality. Wonderful complexity and balance. Greater concentration giving the best yet evolution on the palate. Medium to full bodied with finish on citrus/mineral notes. Delightful with goat cheese salad. Experiment with halibut, trout or skate, cooked in olive oil, butter and a hint of sage or other fresh herbs.. This wine can be enjoyed immediately for its haunting grapey aromas or aged for 8-10 years, at which age it will reemerge in its glorious liquid honey-like maturity.
  '02 Sauvignon Blanc
A Pacific rim style Sauvignon Blanc with a pleasantly grassy zip and slight suggestion of oak. A lean and muscular medium body with lively acidity. The hallmark Renaissance mineral vibrancy is nicely balanced with spiced grapefruit and a hint of peach. A classic wine for oysters or Crotin goats cheese.
  '02 Viognier
Pale straw color. Herbs, citrus blossom, and honey. Medium body, delicate and lively, elegant balance. Bright fruity flavors, flowery aromas leading to a refreshing, spicy finish.
  '02 Viognier Première Cuvée
This wine was made from the first crop of newly grafted vines on our Slope 23. Very low yield resulted in an amazing wine, worthy of being bottled separately as a first release of a ‘Première Cuvée’ of this variety. Very pale straw color. Heady bouquet of ripe tropical and citrus fruits (guava, grapefruit) and spices. Full and concentrated on the palate, viscous, mouth-coating. Deep ripe flavors of exotic tropical fruits, oriental spices, and minerals. Very persistent finish.
  '02 Zinfandel
A lovely burst of ripe fruit and a classy touch of leather. Though lighter than our previous Zinfandel vintages, this is a great wine to drink by the glass or enjoy with a meal. Will age effortlessly for 6-8 years.
  '03 Roussanne
The delicate, complex minerally palate follows a honeyed bouquet that has a reminder of Spring flowers. Something that will perk up a mid-winter white fish dish or develop into something even more glorious with 8-12 years cellaring - if able to resist.
  '03 Viognier
Our ’03 vintage exhibits a subtle elegance. A haunting nose - look for sage, rosemary, thyme and cardamom. Restrained fruit showing apple, pear and echoes of guava. Very dry with flavors opening through herbs, flowers, fruit to a lengthy finish of minerals nuts and spices. Certainly for lunch and dinner with fresh water fish, halibut or sole.
  '04 Viognier
Combining the airy elegance of the 2003 Viognier with the lusciousness of the 2000, this is another winner in the making. Bright, layered tropical fruit, pure essence of minerals finish. Just enough spice to keep you on your toes.
'97 Cabernet Sauvignon 'Vin de Terroir'
A unique and fascinating expression of the cabernet sauvignon varietal and a unique micro-terroir (our oldest vineyard slope, 22 years old in 97, 4 south-west facing acres at ~1800 ft.). Strong Havana nose with black cherry and plum and a glorious ruby color. This is a big, fleshy, hearty wine. It offers the same phenomenal fruit concentration as our 1995 'Vin de Terroir' in a slightly more elegant, civilized form, with rich ripe tannins softly playing in the background and the bright berry fruit displayed up-front. Astounding length and complexity. Decant a few hours before serving, or age for another three to five years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Life expectancy: 15-25 years.
  '97 Claret Prestige
Impressive dark color, very youthful looking. A big, juicy wine, with black fruit and spicy aromas, massive concentration and depth, and a long, smooth finish. One of the best-balanced Cabernet blends in our history. This wine is immensely satisfying right now yet would reward with extended cellaring for 15-25 years. Roast rack of lamb, venison, and game birds are this wine’s natural table companions, but it would magically transform even a simple roast beef and baked-potato dinner into a royal feast.
  '97 Riesling Late Harvest
GOLD MEDAL - Orange County Fair 2002
  '97 Sauvignon Blanc Late Harvest
SILVER MEDAL - Orange County Fair, June 2002
  '98 Chardonnay 'Premier Cuvee'
Super-ripe apples, vanilla and honey in the nose. Buttered toast, minerals and echoes of yeasty honeyed apples on the palate. Nicely framed by lively acidity and concentrated fruit flavors. This is potentially our best ever effort with this varietal. The obvious table companions are lobster, crab, fresh tuna, shark and salmon. And, yes, add the cream sauce, tarragon, thyme or a hint of vine-ripe tomato. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, this wine may throw a fine sediment in the bottle. Our reserve level Chardonnay - barrel fermented with extensive time in wood - exemplifies a fuller, richer style, designed for longer aging. This wine is powerful, with rich body and texture, good definition and deep, multi-layered flavors.
  '99 Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep color. Rich, ripe, fruity, spicy nose; berries, black-cherry, cedar, wet earth. Ripe, concentrated flavors, with lots of juicey cherry/flowery fruit; very easy-going for a young Renaissance cab. Long, harmonious finish. This is exceptional quality for our “Estate” bottling. Drink now to 2015.
  '99 Le Provencal
This Cabernet-Syrah bend shows a harmony and elegance with ripe fruit and tannins. This wine now joins the "Reserve Level" class and can be seen as a symbol of our "new style" of wines. Keeping the concentration and depth of our tradition with additional refinement, balance and early appeal, this wine is the most delicious on our list. Drink it with game, venison and with the more voluptuous taste of boar. Our winemaker recommends you drink it in very large glasses.
  '99 Merlot
Dark saturated purple-red. Big, ripe, inviting nose of plum, cherries, herbal/spicy side (rosemary/thyme), and a meaty (fresh lamb/musk) character. Medium-full bodied, with deep concentrated fruit, earthy/spicy complexity, and a lusty, alcoholic, expansive finish. Good length. This is one of our biggest wines of the great 1999 – a vintage noted for rich elegant fruit and smooth textures. While drinking well now with the appropriate roast meats or stewed dishes, it will greatly reward further aging. Drink now to 2015.
  '99 Merlot Premiere Cuvee
If you're about to give up on insipid California "Merlot", this one might re-kindle your passion. Dense dark velvet, meaty-plummy depths, bitter chocolate and expansive fields of spices in the finish. Drink now with a festive lamb roast, or watch it improve further over the next decade or two. Not for the faint-hearted!
