Elkhorn Peak Cellars

Elkhorn Peak Cellars Elkhorn Peak Cellars is a small winery/vineyard located in the southern part of the Napa Valley, east of the Carneros district. This area is known as Jamieson Canyon. For years, Jamieson Canyon was known only for cattle grazing. Now, it is quickly becoming recognized as a prime grape-growing region. With influences of San Francisco and the San Pablo Bay, the early morning fog and afternoon breezes create the perfect growing conditions for the cool region's grapes, notably Pinot Noir, the most difficult of all grapes to grow. Elkhorn Peaks' vineyard, Fagan Creek Vineyard, is the oldest vineyard in the Jamieson Canyon area. Established in 1983, this 10-acre vineyard is at 350 feet of the elevation on a south-facing hillside. Limited yields create that distinctive fruit flavor that is carried through to the wine. Now with 10 additional acres starting to produce, our production, currently at about 1,500 cases a year, will max out at about 3,500 cases a year. The wine is made by winemaker Kent Rasmussen who is considered to be one the greatest masters of this difficult varietal. We hope you enjoy your visit!

  Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Chardonnay
Our 2000 Chardonnay was made from selected grapes in this small hand- tended vineyard in Napa. Aged in oak for 12 months, this big, bold and buttery Chardonnay has the taste you like. You won't be disappointed!
  Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Chardonnay
Our 2004 Chardonnay grapes were sourced from an old, low yielding vineyard in Yountville. The resulting wine exhibits the clean taste of a well structured and smooth Chardonnay.
Elkhorn Peak Napa Valley Pinot Noir
1999 was a great year for Pinot Noir in the Napa Valley. The growing season was perfect, and the grapes were great. Pinot Noir is one of the most difficult wines to make and an even more difficult grape to grow. When these challenges are overcome, the results are outstanding. As you can see from the awards this wine has won, Elkhorn Peak has met these challenges with delightful results.
  Elkhorn Peak Pinot Noir
2002 was the first year that our Pinot Noir had a majority of the Dijon clones from our newest vineyard, Block 38. These French clones have blended magnificently with our domestic clones to produce this rich and full Pinot Noir that is absolutley wonderful!
Fagan Creek Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The select grapes were hand harvested and sorted and carefully made into wine. After the fermentation was complete, the wine was put into 60 gallon French and American barrels to age. The careful selection of Oak really comes out in this full-bodied wine. The 2000 FAGAN CREEK Cabernet Sauvignon is very representative of a powerful Napa Valley Cabernet. It is the kind of wine that you can enjoy without spending a fortune to do so! We hope you enjoy it!
  Fagan Creek Napa Valley Merlot
2000 was a great growing season for the Merlot grapes. After the hand-harvested grapes were fermented and pressed, they were put into 60 gallon French and American Oak barrels to age. After the aging process, the resulting wines came out superb. This hearty wine can be enjoyed with a wide range of foods or simply by itself. Enjoy...
  Fagan Creek Syrah Dunnigan Hills
The Fagan Creek Syrah is the sole wine that we made from grapes not from the Napa Valley. The 2001 Syrah came from the Dunningham Hills growing appellation. Located in Yolo County, which is adjacent to Napa County, these grapes were grown in the old style producing only 1/2 ton to the acre! The results are clearly tasted in the wine. A truly excellent wine, which goes to show that not all great wine has to be from the Napa Valley. Enjoy it now!
  Fagan Creek Syrah Dunnigan Hills
Syrah has become a very popular wine lately. Elkhorn Peak is pleased to offer, in addition to our wonderful Pinot Noir's, this extremely limited production of 2002 Syrah from the Horsley Vineyards in the Dunnigan Hills growing region. Chris Horsley is a partner in Vineyard 38 (the Dijon Block) and grows "old-style" Syrah in his Yolo County Vineyard. With yields of 1/2 ton to the acre,he produces his Syrah under the Fagan Creek label. Not to be missed!
