Galway Rock Vineyard and Winery Before returning to upstate New York to found the Galway Rock Vineyard and Winery, Kate garnered years of experience in the wine industry to hone both her administrative and winemaking skills. As the president of our farm winery and unchallenged leader of the Taylor family, she is the ultimate decider tasked with managing overall business and family operations. Though being the grand poobah seems glorious to the untrained eye, Kate deals on a daily basis with headache-inducing compliance work, tedious financial management, and navigating life with a family that includes an unruly-haired husband, two young daughters (one of which may be possessed), and a three-legged farm cat with an overly-developed sense of entitlement. Naturally, someone with such responsibilities enjoys a nice glass of wine from time to time. Raised in an Irish-Italian family that celebrated wine as the nectar of life coupled with a love of biological sciences, it is little wonder that Kate chose the winemaker path in life. What began as a weekly drinking club with the ladies called Champagne Thursday, she progressed into making hobbyist kits that culminated with the production of 300 bottles as gifts to her wedding guests.

  AVALON (Off-Dry Riesling Style)
Avalon is a lightly sweetened Riesling style blend, floral and fruity with aromas of peach and melon showing great balance and acidity. Rieslings are an increasingly popular compliment to spicy cuisines. Serve well chilled.

  CLOS JUVIN - 2001
A Bordeaux Red Blend which will only be produced in extraordinary vintage years and represents our most premium wine. The first release will be from the 2001 vintage and is available in our tasting rooms and on the web.
A golden straw hue with a complex nose, floral and fruit aromas combine with pear, apricot and honeysuckle dominating. A soft toasty oak comes through on the palate with a predominantly citrus finish. The wine was fermented in French oak and aged 14 months.
A first impression of the wine offers aromas of leather, spice and licorice. Red berry fruits follow on the nose with a hint of toasty. Deep cherry in color, raisin and cherry nuances come through on the palate and toasted wood appears on the finish with velvety tannins lingering. The wine is a blend: 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and is aged 14 months in French and American oak.
Packed with aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, and black pepper, this wine has an interestingly "earthy" Burgundian-like quality on the nose. On the palate the wine is vibrant with juicy, jammy fruit. This medium bodied wine has a soft seductive finish. 100% Cab Franc aged in French oak for 14 months.
Dark plum and cassis, as well as chocolate and fennel aromas lead to a fruit-forward palate with a beautifully balanced tannin structure. The wine is aged in French oak for 16 months.
Showing focused aromas of orange peel, tropical fruits, and coconut on the nose with layers of smoky toasty oak. This rich well-balanced oak gives this wine good structure, making it a lush, crisp and elegant chardonnay.
Deep aromas of dark fruit, spice and sweet oak and currant lead to a rich and elegant wine with meaty but approachable tannins and a long finish. 14 months in French oak.
A bright, fresh and fruity rosé, this crisp table wine has hints of peach, pineapple and banana aromas. Great accompaniment for after hour enjoyment, sipping at the porch or entertaining guests. Is perfect as an aperitif as well as with meals
Bright yellow color with a green reflection. Fresh and bright aromas of green apple with tangy grapefruit, and hints of nuts and honey on the nose. A fresh honeyed crispness on the palate that is alive with riper green apple and grapefruit, and more advanced honey and nutty essences surrounded by an effervescent crispness round the edges, finishes on a bright fresh note. 70% Steel Tank fermented; 30% fermented and aged 10 months in French Oak. Pairs well with raw seafood, grilled shrimp and chicken with citrus marinade.
This medium-bodied Merlot shows impressive aromas of bright cherry fruit on the nose, while maintaining a harmonious balance between fruit and delicate oak influence on the palate. Aged 6 months in French Oak, the wine is soft, supple and ready to drink.
