Lost River Winery

Lost River Winery The Lost River Winery is a boutique family owned winery that was started in 2002 in Mazama, Washington in the upper Methow Valley by a family of Bellingham transplants. The winery’s tasting room which is open on Friday, Saturdays and Mondays year round from 11-5 pm is located in the Western-themed town of Winthrop on Highway 20 in the Rainshadow of the North Cascade mountains. The winery has continuously produced wines like Cedarosa, Community Red, Nebbiolo, Pinot Gris and Massif that have received notable awards.

Directions
Opened in December of 2005 on North Cascades Highway just west of the town gates leading to the western-themed town of Winthrop.

  Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine exhibits notes of raspberries, black currants and spice. This wine will continue to improve with an additional year in bottle, and, with proper cellaring, should age well until at least 2010.
  Columbia Valley Merlot
This wine exhibits notes of black currant and cassis, cherry, and licorice. This wine will improve with an additional year in bottle, and, with proper cellaring, should age well until at least 2010.
  Columbia Valley Pinot Gris
This wine exhibits aromas of citrus, pear and tropical fruits. Cool fermentation in stainless steel enhances the fruit character. The crisp acidity is balanced with a small amount of residual sugar. An ideal food pairing wine. Wines of this style should be drunk young.
  Columbia Valley Rainshadow
This wine exhibits aromas of citrus, pear and tropical fruits. Partial malolactic fermentation enhances the fruit aroma and preserves acidity. With proper cellaring this wine should age well for two to three years. 40% Semillon / 60% Sauvignon Blanc
  Walla Walla Valley Syrah
This wine exhibits a nice blend of terroir expression with distinctive black pepper and cherry notes from the Morrison Lane Vineyard with strong character of bitter chocolate, coffee and meat contributed by the heavier soils of the Les Collines Vineyard. The length in barrel and restrained amount of new French oak lengthens the wines finish and enhances the fruit aromas, while the small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon contributes to a firm tannin structure. With proper cellaring, this wine should age well until at least 2006-2008.
