Helena View Johnston Vineyards Helena View Johnston Vineyards is located on Highway 128 just five minutes north of Calistoga in the eye of Mt. St. Helena in a fertile area noted for producing exceptional red wines. Helena View specializes in bordeaux style reds, namely Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Winemaker and proprietor Charles Johnston, has within a few short years produced award-winning vintages from his organic vineyard property and from other select vineyards in Calistoga, Rutherford, and St. Helena.

Directions
Helena View is located about 3 miles north of the town of Calistoga (Highway 29 changes into Highway 128 in Calistoga). From the corner of Highway 128 and Lincoln Avenue in Calistoga, continue straight (north) past the convenience store, continue past Tubbs Lane, and then past Bennett Lane (the road splits, stay to the left). Begin to slow down as you go up a slight incline in the road. Up the hill on the right hand side will be three green mail boxes, 3500 Highway 128. The winery is located in the back of the property on the right.

  Helena View Johnston Vineyards Estate Cabernet Franc
Following four outstanding vintages, Mother Nature rested a bit, yielding a late ripening smaller crop in 1998. To naturally enhance the intensity of fruit flavors, the wine was left on the skins for four months. Aging occured in new American oak and resulted in a medium-bodied wine. Production was limited to 160 cases.
  Helena View Johnston Vineyards Proprietors Reserve Estate Cabernet Franc
The 1997 Estate Cabernet Franc brought together the best of all worlds. This vintage was the result of ideal growing conditions and fruit picked at the optimum moment assuring an awesome wine from a great year. Five barrels were specially selected to create the winery's first 100% Cabernet Franc Proprietors Reserve, while production was limited to 120 cases.
  Helena View Johnston Vineyards Tradition Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The 1997 Napa Valley Reds will be remembered for their stellar quality which made it possible to produce an estate reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit was outstanding and provided an intense flavor and character the wine. This full-bodied, unfined release of 1997 Tradition Estate was aged in French and American oak with production limited to 160 cases.
  Helena View Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 1998 Helena View Cabernet Sauvignon can be characterized as an approachable medium-bodied wine. Leaving the wine on the skins for four months before pressing enhanced fruit intensity and complexity. Aging occured in new American oak and production was limited to 250 cases
  Helena View Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 1997 Napa Valley Reds will be remembered for their stellar quality. Helena View's Cabernet Sauvignon can be described as intensely rich and beautifully balanced. The complexity of the wine was enhanced with the addition of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from selected vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. The must was allowed to remain on the skins for 60 days prior to barrel aging in French and American oak.
  Moon Mountain Napa Valley Harvest Moon Red
The 1998 vintage of Moon Mountain's Harvest Moon Red was produced from St. Helena and Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes. The must was allowed to remain on the skins for four months prior to pressing. New American oak was used to age the wine prior to bottling in January of 2001.
