When visiting Napa Valley you have roughly 400 options for wine tasting, but only at Pope Valley Winery will you get a truly authentic wine country experience. Most visitors to the valley will follow the rest of the traffic down Hwy 29, pick tasting rooms at whim and fight for a spot and attention at one bar after another. But if you aren’t most people, and you’re not in a hurry, take the scenic route up into the surrounding hills and stop at our quiet, unpretentious and historic winery. Don’t forget to pack a lunch to enjoy with good friends and premium, limited-production wines. Relax under the sun and intimately between the vines at our picnic tables. Play a game of bocce—or fetch with friendly Gus—and walk through our 100-year-old, hand dug cave. Laugh. Sip. Unwind. Unload. Let the afternoon, and your problems, slip away.

Directions
Take Highway 29 or Silverado Trail north to Deer Park Road. Turn right and follow over mountain…the road will turn into Howell Mountain Road. At the base of the mountain turn left on Pope Valley Road and follow for two miles, the winery will be on your left -- look for our sign.

1999 Estate Grown Sangiovese
Our Sangiovese is estate grown in the Pope Valley and has superb characteristics. This bright, rich and lively wine is highlighted by vibrant flavors of cherries, blackberries, and rich hints of spice. It is well balanced, smooth and has a long-lasting and memorable finish, which will make your next Italian meal perfectly delightful. “Now that’s Italian!”

2000 Blue Port
Wow. This port is easy to drink with flavors of black cherries and chocolate. Made from the Portuguese Blue grape, it is something different than your usual after dinner wines. And at $32 bottle, it is a great value!

2000 Estate Grown Chenin Blanc
Pope Valley Winery is one of the only Napa wineries that produces a classic Chenin Blanc. This year’s vintage is superb. It starts with a wonderfully aromatic nose punctuated by notes of tropical fruit and then rewards the taster with flavors of peaches, apricots and and notes of citrus. The wine is well-balanced, smooth and perfect with many foods or by itself as a cocktail wine.

2000 Estate Grown Merlot
Experience a beautiful, full-bodied wine that is rich and concentrated, with sensational tannic balance and structure that embraces flavors of blackberries and cocoa. This wine is silky on the palate, and finishes with an elegant flourish that is a classic trademark of our Pope Valley Estate grown Merlot. It will benefit from a few years in the bottle.

2000 Estate Grown Zinfandel
This powerful Zinfandel has full satisfying aromas of deep dark licorice, anise and mint. A grand collaboration of ripe berries and white pepper is enhanced by the core flavors of black cherry, cassis and briary spice. Sharply focused and well-built, the tannins soften on the finish, letting the fruit push through. Fantastic!

2001 Late Harvest Chenin Blanc
