Borra Vineyards

Borra Vineyards We are situated in the Lodi Wine country. The Borra Winery was founded with the intention of making wines that distinctly reflect the true potential of the Lodi Wine Appellation. Our two vineyards are located in different areas within the Lodi Wine Appellation. The first is the Carru' Vineyard located in central Lodi, and the second is the Gill Creek Ranch located in the Clements Hills area of Lodi. The Carru' Vineyard Ranch is the eldest of the two vineyards and has been in the family for over one hundred years. The vineyard was replanted in 1972 to Barbera. In 1991 we purchased the 200-acre Gill Creek Ranch, which had old vine Zinfandel and Chardonnay vineyards. We have since planted additional acreage of Merlot, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. To achieve our goal we employ the most progressive viticultural practices, harvest at peak maturity, and practice traditional winemaking techniques. The Borra wines reflect our commitment to quality and value, we are proud to introduce them to you.

Brilliant garnet color. Rich perfume of ripe cherries and just a touch of leather blending with the vanilla from the oak aging. This Barbera is bright and fruit-forward in the mouth, with the cherry character carrying through in combination with very nicely balanced acidity. This medium-bodied wine has the ripe fruit and lighter tannins to make it a charming wine to serve with a wide variety of foods, including classic tomato sauces and red meats.
The Chardonnay is full of beautiful floral aromatics followed by an abundance of ripe melon, vanilla and spice. The palate is round and well integrated, with crisp acidity and a persistent finish. “This is a California Chardonnay, full of elegance, fruit driven with a hint of oak,” explains winemaker Craig Becker. The Borras recommend Chicken Scaloppini with mushrooms in a lemon butter sauce tossed with pasta as the perfect partner.
Deep rich color, with a purple edge. Powerful aroma of ripe fruits, including berries and plums, with delicate notes of vanilla. Big and rich on the palate, the wine combines softer tannins with a long and luscious finish. Ideal with roasted meats, wild game, or richer stews and pastas.
  FUSION White
Delicate pale green/gold color. Delicious and complex aroma of ripe tropical fruits with delicate notes of peach and vanilla. Bright and rich on the palate, the wine combines a luscious texture with a long and elegant finish. Ideal with richer seafoods, creamy pasta sauces, or on its own with a perfectly aged mild cheese.
The Merlot has dark fruits of plum and blackberry well integrated with spice and toasty oak. The wine is medium bodied, round and delicious, with sweet tannins and a smooth, lingering finish. The Borras recommend rack of lamb with au jus as the perfect partner.
  Old Vine Zinfandel
Deep ruby color, brilliantly clear. In the nose there are powerful aromas of ripe blackberries, combined with a touch of vanilla from the oak. In the mouth, plum notes and a mouth-coating molasses mid-palate finish with complex nuances of walnut, cedar and spicy anise. This is a beautiful wine for grilled or barbecued meats, but also works wonderfully with rich cheeses or on its own as a final contemplative wine at the end of a wonderful day.
