In the heart of the Stag's Leap district in the Napa Valley, lies the Hillside Vineyard of Ron and Teri Kuhn. Some of the elegant and supple characteristics of the wine produced from their vineyard result from 40-year old vines. Ron and Teri Kuhn, Illinois residents, fell in love with Napa and bought an estate with 23 acres of vineyard in 1995 with the dream of producing a world class Cabernet Sauvignon. The inspiration of their home’s unique “rock pillars” coupled with the myths and breathtaking views of Stags Leap, helped create the image of Pillar Rock. Pillar Rock Vineyard produces wines that are uncorked at some of the world’s finest restaurants and hotels, including the Peninsula Beverly Hills, Four Seasons- Chicago, stretching from Florida to Valentino’s in California, and all up-and-down the Napa Valley’s premier restaurants, as well as many throughout the Chicago Suburbs.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2001 Pillar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon is a great wine. In my 30+ years of winemaking, I have rarely seen grapes as perfect in both flavor and condition. There were virtually no grapes with any kind of defect. This was a wonderful start for a great vintage.
The wine has all of the hallmarks of Stags Leap District and perfect grapes…elegant flavors and a beautiful complex nose. It is just gorgeous and will certainly age wonderfully for decades. This wine is a wow!

Cabernet Sauvignon
The Pillar Rock Vineyard 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon has the elegance, style and body of a great red wine from the Stags Leap District. It was a wonderful growing season and it shows in this vintage. It surely will age well for decades.

I think the 2003 vintage of Pillar Rock Cabernet Sauvignon shows the elegance and style of the Stags Leap District. A sophisticated wine with the ‘fruit’ of Stags Leap combined with the richness of extended maceration, small production per acre and our gentle handling of the vines, grapes and wine. This vintage will age very well.
