Carmela Estates Carmela Estates Winery began in the fall of 1999 with the purchase of 43 acres of prime viticultural land in the Hillier region of Prince Edward County. Located just 2 kilometres north and east of Lake Ontario the vineyard enjoys the moderating effects of the lake and an extended growing season for our premium grapes. Today, Carmela Estates vineyards cover more than 30 acres of some of the finest growing acreage in the province. Our winery opened to the public in the fall of 2002 with the introduction of a tasting room and wine boutique. Tours of the 3,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art processing area are available daily. We have engaged a world-renowned wine maker to ensure the quality and high standards of our wines. We use only French oak barrels and all of our wines are made in a non-interventionist style. Carmela Estates Winery is committed to producing only the finest wines using imported rootstocks and clones from French and German nurseries. The vines are grafted and established to Carmela's specifications before being flown to Canada for planting. The most modern planting and cultivating equipment combine with sun, moisture and the terroir of our Hillier clay loam to produce a perfect balance in our grapes. Our tasting bar and wine boutique is open seven days a week, and our friendly staff is eager to assist with the perfect wine selections for you or give you a personal tour of our facility.

  Cabernet Franc
A fabulous light to medium bodied cabernet form the estate that displays delicate and mineral driven flavours with a wonderful long finish.
  Cabernet Franc
A delicious medium bodied cabernet with firm silky tannins. Shows its best at the table with hearty red meat dishes as well as game birds.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine was gently vinified and aged in new French oak barrels. It displays bright raspberry, chocolate and vanilla flavours combined with sof silky tannins.
  Chardonnay Barrel Fermented
The grapes were harvested at optimum ripeness and whole cluster pressed. The juice was fermented cold on full Lies and then aged in premium French oak barrels for 8 months. This medium bodied charonnay exhibits lots of fruit harmoniouly combined with subtle oak flavours. Delicious with fish and other light meat dishes.
Blessed with a long and dry warm fall, the grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and fermented using indigenous yeasts in small on tonne fermenters. A delicious medium bodied red ideally enjoyed with light red meats, fish and poultry or alternatively on its own.
  Hubbs Red
A beautifully balanced medium bodied red with firm tannins & bright fruit. A blend of Cabernet Franc and Zweigelt, delicious with rich poultry and fish dishes, yet full bodied enough to merry well with red meat.
  Hubbs White
A delicate blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc with crisp green apple flavours and a light refreshing finish.
An off dry Riesling with beautiful lime and lemon notes on the noes. Crisp and firm in the palate with a wonderful lingering finish.
  Riesling Reserve
Ideal fall conditions provided us with clean, repe adn exceptionally flavourful fruit to vinify. The grapes were vinified in three small lots using different vinification techniques to extract rich layers of flavour. This mineral driven dry Riesling is best enjoyed as an apertif or with most Crustacean and fish dishes. Ideal with pasta and cream sauces.
  Terroir Twist
This blend of 100% estate grown Riesling, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay was vinified dry to highlight the wonderful mineral qualities of our unique limestone clay soils. This light and fresh wine is best enjoyed as an aperatif prior to a meal and is equally delicous with oysters and light seafood dishes
