Stover Oaks Vineyard & Winery

Welcome to Stover Oaks! We are a small, family-owned vineyard and winery located just outside of historic Placerville, California, in El Dorado County. Established in 1997 by Sam and Linda Stover (hence the name), and purchased by us in February of 2004, it features a tasting room/art gallery, picnic areas, event centers for weddings and parties, a guest cottage for overnight visits, and five acres of Merlot, Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Orange Muscat, and Sauvignon Blanc vines. Our Sierra Foothills setting at 2200 feet, with its cool growing conditions, lots of sun, and great soil, can produce exceptional fruit and high quality wines. We are looking forward to our first harvest in October this year in our effort to take over Sam and Linda's dream and make it our own.
Even though we feature a variety of red, white, and blush wines, including a great Port, we are much more than a bottle of wine and a tasting room. We want people to come taste the wine, tour the facilities, have a picnic, take a stroll around the grounds, enjoy the garden, or simply relax under an oak tree. Stover Oaks is a place to come for a visit and enjoy an afternoon with friends or a romantic interlude with someone special. Planning a wedding, party, or other special event? We have a small indoor/outdoor venue for groups of 40 or less and a medium-sized outdoor venue for groups of up to 200. The small venue is at the tasting room and features a beautiful view of the vineyard and grounds. The larger venue is located in the vineyard and features bridal dressing rooms, a gazebo for ceremonies and/or a deejay or band, a dance floor, a 20-foot sheltered head table, round (seat-four) guest tables, plus decorative touches such as fountains, ponds, and a garden area. Both venues have bar and grill areas and wheelchair-accessible restrooms.
If you are looking for a romantic weekend getaway or a week-long vacation spot, consider our Guest Cottage. Located next door to our greenhouse in a lovely private garden and grape arbor, it is comfortably furnished with a queen-sized bed and has a mini-kitchen (microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker). A continental breakfast is provided free of charge.
Lou is the vineyard manager and wine maker for our winery and is learning the ropes from the experts. Jan is in charge of the Guest Cottage and special events. Sam Stover has designed our labels and we also feature his paintings, originals and prints, in the tasting room.

Directions
Take Highway 50 to "Missouri Flat Road" and go south toward Diamond Springs, at the stop sign turn left onto "Pleasant Valley Road" and drive until you see Hank's Exchange (4 1/2 miles) then turn right onto "Hank's Exchange". When you see "Nashville Trail", turn right again until you see our Winery on the left. There are winery signs that you can follow to help you find Stover Oaks.
