Lucero Vineyards & Winery is owned by Dan and Marian Lucero on family owned property dating back to 1906. We are located in Dobbins, California; 72 miles northeast of Sacramento in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Years prior to the vineyards being planted, our family ran cattle and farmed these gentle slopes amongst the Ponderosa Pine trees. Since then, we have looked for other uses of our land. After his retirement as a teacher, Dan & Marian decided to start a vineyard. They and their children took many viniculture classes at U.C. Davis and with their four daughters and their families, hand planted the first vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay rootstock in 1993. The Merlot field followed in 1997 hand planted with potted bench grafts. These estate vineyards produce small crops of intensely flavored grapes. The combination of warm days, cool nights and rich red clay soil contributes to our deep color, elegant flavors and full-bodied wines.

Cabernet Sauvignon
This full bodied wine has a terrific aroma of berries and spices. The deep ruby red color is attributed to the rich clay soil in the region Elegant flavors of chocolate, blackberry and spices will continue to enhance in flavor with more years of bottle aging.
We are pleased to have received a Gold Medal for our 2002 Cabernet Wine from the West Coast Wine Competition. There were 1700 entries spanning from wineries located in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Baja California, British Columbia, Australia and New Zealand

Cabernet Sauvignon
Dry, full-bodied plush and complex, this Cabernet has layers of currant, black cherry and chocolate, and a fragrant nose of raisin
and spice. This wine has an elegant finish and the structure to improve for years to come.

This wine has fruity, crisp aromas. On the palate it is bright and refreshing with toasty ripe apple and pear flavors.

Merlot
On the palate, blackberries, raspberries and cherries dominate with a long spicy finish. It will maintain it’s vitality for another 3-5 years.

Merlot Reserve
The fruit is dominated by black cherry, fig, vanilla and plums. The wine is made from a free-run process that reduces the tannin levels in the wine which makes it rich in flavor and leaves a soft taste on the pallet. It was chosen to appear in: “GREAT BOUTIQUE WINES YOU CAN BUY ONLINE”. It won a Bronze Medal at the Florida State Fair.

A medium-styled Cabernet/Merlot blend with blackberries, black cherry and ripe plum flavors, while the finish is round and chocolaty. The depth of flavors and character will improve with age. It is named after Marian Lucero’s Grandmother from Italy.
