Inspired by the family, friends, and experiences that make us rich, Element 79 Vineyards was born of our love of wine, winemaking, and the opportunity to follow our dreams and immerse ourselves in the winemaker lifestyle. Many years ago, we would come to the Fair Play area to find our perfect Christmas tree. During these excursions, we fell in love with the area and dreamed of one day owning a vineyard in El Dorado County.
Gold, the 79th element on the periodic table, was the inspiration for our name. More than just the symbol for the gold on the vine and in the bottle, the name was also inspired by our love of the region and a recognition of its importance in our nation's history as the location that began the legendary California Gold Rush. Most importantly, 1979 was the year that we were married and began the partnership that has made us rich in life and gave us the opportunity to achieve our dreams.

El Dorado Grenache
Double Gold Medal Winner! Elegant and refined with concentrated fruit of strawberries, blueberries and cherries. Well-balanced acidity, toffee, vanilla, anise, and white pepper add to the velvety finish.

El Dorado Herbert Vineyard Reserve Syrah
An extra year in French oak. Seductive and smooth with blueberry, black cherry and cocoa. Earthy flavors in the traditional French style. A combination of smoke and blackberry provide a smooth and stylish finish.

El Dorado Zinfandel
Luscious ripe dark fruits, blackcherry and blackberry. Very smooth, dark chocolate and coffee. With a pleasant mouth feel and a lingering jam and oak finish.

Herbert Vineyard Syrah
Gold Medal Winner! Seductive and smooth with blueberry, plum, black currant and fig. Earthy flavors with hints of smoke, chocolate, coffee and minerals. A combination of oak and tea like tannins provide an interesting and lasting finish.

Shenandoah Valley, California Zinfandel
From the Oakmont Vineyard. Intense ripe fruits, blackcherry, blackberry and violets. A touch of cinnamon, and honey. Firm tannins, spice and toasty oak add dimension to the finish.

Shenandoah Valley, Sauvignon Blanc
Extremely aromatic with hints of pineapple, grapefruit and white peaches. Creamy citrus flavors, coconut, quince and pear round out the finish.

Sierra Foothill Grenache Rosé
A blend of Grenache and Tempranillo. Strawberries, sweet green melon, green apple, honey and a hint of caramel.

Sierra Foothill Tempranillo
Raspberry, cranberry and a core of ripe plum fruits. Alluring notes of smoke, vanilla and toasted coconut round out the finish.
