Pietra Santa

Pietra Santa Pietra Santa is a family-run estate creating artisanal wines and olive oils in the beautiful Cienega Valley just 25 miles from Monterey Bay. The proximity to the Coast provides cooling, maritime breezes that result in vibrant and flavorful wines. The wines also benefit from the estate's granite and limestone soils, much like soils found in the best vineyards in the world. The winery is named Pietra Santa or "Sacred Stone" in honor of these unique soils. The estate's winemaking history dates back to the 1850s, and our family is privileged to own this special vineyard. We work hard as a family with respect for the land, and we enjoy sharing these wines together. We are proud to offer them to you, and we hope you and your family enjoy them as much as we do.

  Pietra Santa Cabernet Sauvignon
Grapes from these older vines yield rich and expressive flavors further enhanced by four weeks of extended skin contact and two years of aging in French oak barrels. The result is a wine with rich black cherry, cassis, tobacco and cocoa flavors with loads of complexity and a supple, elegant finish.
  Pietra Santa Chardonnay
Crisp and fresh, this wine features lemongrass, pear and green apple flavors with bright acidity and subtle hints of oak. Lively fruit flavors dominate making this enticing and food-friendly wine great as an aperitif or a natural complement to seafood, chicken or pasta. A terrific value -- especially by the case!
  Pietra Santa Dolcetto
The grapes for this wine were grown exclusively on our Cienega Valley estate. Prior to fermentation the newly pressed grapes underwent three weeks of cold soak to ensure maximum extraction of color and flavor. Two years of barrel aging softened the tannins and developed the vibrant berry, hazelnut and licorice flavors.
  Pietra Santa Merlot
Our estate grown Merlot features bright flavors of black cherry and plum with undertones of clove, pepper, and chocolate. This wine is intensely fruity yet beautifully balanced. It can be enjoyed now but also has the structure and acidity to age well. A perfect match for roasted meat or game.
  Pietra Santa Pinot Grigio
This limited release comes from grapes planted high on the terraced hillside of our estate vineyard overlooking the Cienega Valley. The cool marine climate here is a perfect foil for the natural acidity of the Pinot Grigio grape. Bursting with tropical fruit, peach and citrus flavors with a refreshing and crisp finish, this special bottling will go fast, as only a few hundred cases were produced.

  Pietra Santa Sassolino
Grapes for this wine came from our estate vineyard in the Cienega Valley. A bit of Sangiovese in the blend adds richness and soft tannins. This wine is full of ripe raspberry and blackberry flavors with hints of cinnamon, allspice and vanilla.
  Sangiovese
This estate grown wine offers rich berry and spice flavors and soft, earthy undertones with lots of depth and complexity. Although barrel aged for almost two years, the oak doesn’t dominate, making it a versatile wine with virtually all types of food. This wine showcases Alessio’s talent with the Sangiovese grape gained from making Chianti in his native Tuscany. A rich and structured wine with quite a following.
