DuCard Vineyards

DuCard Vineyards While most of our grapes are used in wines made by Rappahannock Cellars, we have for the first time this year reserved a very limited amount for wines under our own label. We have three wines available: Viognier, Popham Run Red (a blend of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), and Virginia Native Norton. To friends and supporters who have been asking about this for years, thank you for your interest and your patience. We did it, finally ! To others who are curious to sample Virginia wines, we invite you to share in the fun and excitement of this event. DuCard Vineyards grows seven acres of French and Virginia varieties, all meticulously nurtured and tended by hand. Located on a picturesque slope in the shadow of the Blue Ridge mountains, our grapes reflect the rocky soils and rugged landscape of Madison County, and yield wines with unique character and complexity.

  Popham Run Red
The Popham Run Red is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes, plus a splash of Norton, made in a light style that’s ready to drink now. Aged for three months in French oak, with earthy aromas and a hint of tannins, it pairs especially well with pasta or steak.
  Signature Viognier
Elegant dry white wine with subtle aromas of peaches, honeysuckle and wildflowers that evoke summer mornings in the Virginia countryside. Barrel-fermented and aged in neutral oak to highlight character.
  Sweet Virginia Vidal Blanc

  Virginia Native Norton
Norton is Virginia’s native grape, dating to the late 1800s when it was used to make red wines deemed “best of all nations.” Now enjoying a resurgence in popularity, our Norton is inky-black with intense and distinctive aromas of mesquite, cigar and spice. It’s great with steaks, spicy ethnic food and chocolate.
