Nimble Hill Vineyard & Winery

Nimble Hill Vineyard & Winery We would like to share with you our history and our winemaking philosophy, and of course information about our wines. Nimble Hill opened in 2007 with a production of more than three thousand gallons of wine. We believe that winemaking begins in the vineyard. We take what nature has given us and turn it into the best possible product we can make. Winemaker Kevin Durland takes a minimalist approach to winemaking, letting the grapes and fermentation process take the wine where it wants to go. A cornerstone belief of ours is that winemaking is not a recipe but rather a series of decisions that involve analysis of the juice, must, and wine at every stage of its development. Our wines include a variety aimed at pleasing the different tastes of our customers. We make an array of both white and red wines, at all sweetness levels from dry to sweet. The grapes for our wines are sourced from different areas of Pennsylvania including Mehoopany, Tunkhannock, Dushore, and West Chester. We also source some grapes from the North Fork of Long Island.

Directions
The vineyards are located on Nimble Road in Mehoopany, further up Route 6 past Tunkhannock. From Route 6, take Route 87 west a few miles until you cross over the Susquehanna and then makes a sharp left turn. Nimble Road begins about 1/4 mile further on Route 87 where it forks behind a white church on the right. The vineyard is about two miles up Nimble Road on the right at #175.

Products

  Cabernet Franc
Aromas of smoke and coffee lead the way. The wine opens up into flavors of coffee, and cocoa with cranberry and red fruit notes. Grapes sourced from both Long Island and Tunkhannock create the complexity achieved by this wine.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
A complex wine with structured tannins and a long finish, this wine has aromas of tobacco and dark fruits with a hint of licorice and cedar.
  Chardonnay
Partially fermented in oak and partially in stainless steel results in a wine with a smooth mouth feel and a nice level of acidity and fruit. Aromas of light oak and vanilla give way to flavors of apple and citrus on the pallet with a hint of butterscotch in the finish.
  Gruner Veltliner
100% Wyoming County fruit from Nimble Hill Vineyards. Often grown in Austria, this wine is bright in acidity, fresh citrus, ground white pepper, along with mineral accents. This wine is known for being a versatile pairing wine
  Harvest Moon
Our hot tub wine. Don't take this wine too seriously, just sit back, take a sip and enjoy. Best when served chilled.
  Lemberger
A fruit-forward dry red wine. These grapes are grown in our Sugar Hollow Vineyard
  Merlot
Aromas and flavors of blueberry and plum dominate this wine. Ripe tannins result in a soft and supple mouthfeel.
  Mountain Magic
"Pennsylvania port". Local grapes with great black cherry and chocolate flavors.
  Mountain Red
Proprietary red blend of native American and Hybrid grapes, very grapey, like a red version of Niagara. Serve chilled.
  Niagara
Our sweetest white wine made from Native American grapes. This wine screams grapes, grapes, grapes!! Serve very cold with sharp cheddar cheese or cheesecake.
  Nimble Hill Red
A blend of hybrid grapes. This wine is low in tannin with a touch of sweetness and very approachable. It has wonderful flavors of black cherry and blackberries. This is a great wine for barbecues, hamburgs and hotdogs, or pasta.
  Nimble Hill White
A blend of Vidal Blanc and Cayuga White, this wine has flavors of fruit cocktail and juicy fruit. This is a great patio wine either alone or served with cheeses.
  Riesling
Aromas of peach on the nose with flavors of white peaches and a hint of tangerine. This is great alone but will pair well with pork, particularly good with pork and sauerkraut. The fruitiness of this wine also works well with spicy Chinese dishes.
  Vidal Blanc\Riesling
A nose of pears opens to flavors of ripe pears and hints of grapefruit. This wine has a nice mineral quality in the mouth feel. Does well as an aperitif or with cheese. Pairs well with fish, chicken and light dishes.
