We started Kachina Vineyards over four years ago following a passion and dream of planting our own estate vineyards and building a winery. Our quest was to produce high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Vintage Port.
Producing only 500 cases per year, our fruit will come from our hillside Estate Vineyards that sit atop ridges overlooking Dry Creek Valley. The fog line is just below us and the terroir provides rocky volcanic soil, warm hot days and cool breezes in the evening - making for one of the best growing conditions in the world for our Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel grapes.
We are often asked how and why we choose the name Kachina Vineyards. Well, it was not an easy decision for us. We wanted a name that would depict our desire to stay as close to mother earth as possible… staying away from pesticides and other man-made materials and relying on nature to take its course to provide us with ripe, concentrated fruit that we require to make our wines. After a lot of soul searching and exploring, we came across the Kachina and its supernatural ties to bountiful crops and prosperity, making it a fitting name for what we desire to achieve in both our lives and our love for fine wine.
