After years of planning, inspections, and hard work, Oak Island’s first brewpub, Solar Brewing Company opened for business on October 31st 2022.
We are located at 8108 East Oak Island Drive, just across the street or a 2 minute walk from Shagger Jacks. We are 13 mins from downtown Southport’s River road and just 3 blocks from one of the few south facing beaches on the East Coast of the United States. Our brand new and state of the art brewpub has a 70-person seating capacity, 16 taps of which 10 are as of today January 11th 2023 flowing staple craft beer and house-made craft soda. We feature rotating guest taps and a decent selection of wine as well as prosecco on tap, and delicious pub offerings.
Proprietor and Head Brewer, Michael Bartlett(“Mike the Brewer”) is a local to the island since 2015 however he is in no way new to beer as he is an epic homebrewer with approximately 35 yrs experience under his belt having started brewing in 1988. He’s made the decision to lock that in as his career and some of his brews to date definitely show off his skill and passion for the beer, the culture and most importantly the people who make up our community. We invite you all to check out what we have up our sleeves in 2023 and join us for cold snacks in the taproom whenever you get thirsty!
