Belo Wine Company

Belo Wine Company Terence Dewane has been making wine since 1986. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Business Management. After a brief stint in strategic marketing at a major brewery, he decided that the suit and tie corporate world was not for him. He followed his passion to Northern California to study Viticulture at UC Davis while working at Cakebread Cellars. Upon graduation, he went to work for Johnson-Turnbull as assistant winemaker. In 1993, he took on the restoration of Pope Valley Cellars as General Manager/Winemaker. In 1995, he took the position of assistant winemaker at Clos Pegas Winery in Calistoga. During this time he founded Belo Wine Company. He is currently developing a vineyard in Pope Valley, specializing in Portuguese varieties. Other dessert wines produced include Tawny Port, Muscat Gris and Late Harvest Semillion/Sauvignon Blanc.

Products

  Late Harvest Semillon
A classic wine produced from Bordeaux varieties, our late harvest wine is aged in Limousin oak barrels for 24 months. Present are traditional aromas and flavors of honey, apricot and ripe pear.
  Muscat Gris
Made in a Beaumes des Venise style, our Muscat Gris is slightly fortified with Muscat brandy. It can be enjoyed early in its youth.
  Sousao Port
Produced from California Sousao, this soft, delicate, aromatic wine is ready to drink. It's lighter in style and does not require bottle aging.
  Tawny Port
Patience is a virtue. Aged for 10 years in American oak barrels, this wine shows characteristics of caramel, walnut, dried apricot and butterscotch.
  Vintage Port
The flagship wine produced from predominately zinfandel grapes. Portuguese varieties are blended to round the mouthfeel before aging in chateau barrels for 18 months.
  Vintage Reserve Port
Only produced in what we declare as "superb vintage years", our Vintage Reserve Port is made from 100% Portuguese grapes. These are the classic grape varieties of the Douro: Touriga Nacional, Tinto Cao, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz. Adhering to tradition, we're aging the reserves with Portuguese chestnut wood.
