Alison Wines & Vineyards

Alison Wines & Vineyards Alison Wines & Vineyards is the Hudson Valley’s newest producer of fine red and white wines created from the noble French varieties. Winemaker Richard Lewit handcrafts his wines to reflect the special climate and growing conditions found in New York. All winemaking and barrel aging takes place in a converted dairy barn, parts of which date to the mid 1800’s. Tours and tastings are conducted in an intimate setting which encourages a deeper appreciation of wine and winemaking.

  Cabernet Franc
Our Cabernet Franc just won a gold medal at the 2005 Finger Lakes International Competition! This is a Cabernet Franc that is more in the Old World Loire style, with subtle cherry fruit, a hint of oak and a touch of that classic Cab Franc herbaceousness. Some lovely acidity gives the wine balance and makes it a pleasure to sip alone or enjoy with red sauces, meats, and heavier fish dishes.
  Chardonnay
A rich, barrel fermented Chardonnay with an earthy nose, a golden color and nice fruit and barrel flavors on the palate.
  Chardonnay “Diana”
A blend of barrel and tank fermented wines that give vanilla and toffee notes on the nose, followed by mineral and more focused fruit flavors on the palate. A hint of tannin and crisp acidity offer a clean finish. Excellent acid/fruit/alcohol balance make this a versatile wine for drinking now.
  Chardonnay Reserve
We are very excited about our just released Reserve Chardonnay 2002. This unfiltered wine was aged in French oak and has developed beautifully, with spicy vanilla, butter, caramel and toffee on the nose and spicy oak, apples and great acidity on the palate. This wine is well-balanced, so enjoy it before dinner or with a wide variety of foods, including chicken, fish and pork.
  Pinot Noir
Bronze medal winner in the 2001 Governor’s Cup. Raspberry and cherry on the nose. Bright, sweet red fruit flavors predominate the palette. Drink now through 2005.
  Pinot Noir
Bronze medal winner in 2002 Eastern International Wine Competition Created in the fruit forward style of the Burgundy/Beaujolais border. Aromas of black cherry, raspberry and mineral dominate the nose, with notes of spice and leather for depth. This wine is soft on the palate with a long black cherry finish. Drink now and improving over next 2 – 3 years.
  Rose
Another gold medal winner, awarded by the Hudson Valley Winegrowers Association, this dry Rose is an excellent complement to a wide variety of foods, including fish, barbecued meats, chicken and even your Thanksgiving turkey and cranberry sauce. The reason is lots of red fruit and good acidity on the palate. This is the perfect wine for sipping on a Summer afternoon. Those in the know know that Rose is back in style, so be the envy of your friends.
  Seyval Blanc
Our newest release is the ideal summer white, with the nose and palate showing lemon, honeysuckle and hints of sea grass. Made from 100% Hudson Valley grapes and aged in stainless steel, our Seyval Blanc has a rich mouthfeel that will match well with light fish and chicken dishes containing butter or cream.
