Jason's Vineyard

Jason's Vineyard Jason Damianos, proprietor and winemaker, graduated in 1990 from the University of Hartford with a B.S. / B.A. in Business Administration. He furthered his education by attending the University of California at Fresno and received his second B.S. in Enology (Fermentation Science). Upon graduation he received the coveted merit award given to only one outstanding Enology student per year. His education did not stop there. He was accepted to the University of Bordeaux in France where he spent two and a half years in the “Diplome National de Oenolgie” program, a masters degree equivalent. Working in the Medoc, the Grave, Premiere Cote de Bordeaux and in Loupiac and Cadiallac gave him the education to come back to Long Island and plant a world class vineyard. A small 20-acre vineyard located in Jamesport is closely planted a meter by two meters using only the best French clones of Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay. This tightly spaced vineyard allows the grapes to mature earlier, producing higher quality grapes at optimum levels.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine was aged 24 months in new French oak barrels. It is unfined and unfiltered. It abounds with aromatic notes of black cherry, plum, chocolate and cassis. A parallel accomplishment of tannin and fruit, this beautifully balanced wine is ready to drink, but will continue to improve for another decade. Please allow 30 minutes of breathing time before drinking to really appreciate the complexity of this wine.
This chardonnay was aged eight months in new French oak barrels and “sur- lies” stirred weekly, is unfined and unfiltered. This complex wine is filled with aromatic notes of fresh pear, apricot, ripe apples and toasty oak that you’ll enjoy all the way to the finish. A viscous accompaniment to rich dishes of poultry and seafood.
Meritage is a word used to describe a blended wine of more than two varieties. Jason’s Vineyard Meritage is an assemblage of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is unfined and unfiltered. It has been aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels. A complex wine filled with ripe fruit, rich tannins and a hint of earthiness and fig. Made to be enjoyed now, but will cellar for many years to come. Enjoy with all your favorite dishes or lay it down and taste its fruit in the future.
This wine was aged for 24 months in new French oak and has been waiting five years for its debut. It is unfined and unfiltered. A hearty merlot filled with notes of cherry, plum and ripe tannins. Toasty oak adds to the complexity of this rich but supple wine. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to any steak, rib or duck dinner.
