Del Bondio Wine Company

Del Bondio Wine Company “A Century in the Making” is how brothers Jim Del Bondio and Rich Poncia describe their wine making program. The Del Bondio Family’s Napa Valley vineyards are located on the rich lands they have owned since the late 1800s. A twenty acre Oakville vineyard with Estate Syrah and Chardonnay has been farmed for more than one hundred years and a thirty-one acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Rutherford for half that time. The love and care for the land is of utmost importance to the family and with the completion of the Winery in Rutherford, the family has realized their dream of producing organically grown estate wines from the amazing fruit they’ve been farming for more than a century.

  Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Estate
Del Bondio’s 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon aged on oak for an extended twenty-four months where the toasted vanilla oak, blended with rich blackberry, currant, black cherry and time, to soften the tannins and present the textured mouth-feel. The 2002 has a rich, deep nose, and a supple smooth finish. This wine lends itself for drinking alone or being paired with food. The 2002 Cabernet is excellent now, or will age nicely for several years.
  Chardonnay Oakville Estate
DelBondio’s Chardonnay exudes aromas of citrus and spice with hints of vanilla. The palate is of sweet citrus and cinnamon, leading to a perfect finish of toasty oak barrel fermentation. The wine has an excellent balance and acidity. It may be enjoyed now or cellared for up to five years.
  Syrah Oakville Estate
The 2003 Oakville Syrah features an opaque, dense and crimson appearance in the glass. It exhibits the rich perfume of subtle smokiness, ripe black fruits, chocolate and leather. The palate harmonizes a classic expression of the blackberries and plums and hints of vanilla, mint, mocha, cinnamon and white pepper spice. Sensational ripe fruit lingers alongside the texturally elegant tannins in the mid-palate. The finish is long and satisfying. The well balanced 2003 Del Bondio Syrah is delicious now, but also has the tannins and acid structure to easily allow 8-10 years of cellaring.
