Kestrel Vintners

Kestrel Vintners Kestrel Vintners is an award-winning winery with an attitude - a Washington State attitude. Of course, we simply refer to it as our Grand Cru Mentality. From our winery owners to our winemaker to our vineyard manager, the same unyielding commitment to absolute quality exists as it does in the Chateaux of the Haut-Medo. We opened our winery in early 1999. Located on 3 acres in the Prosser Wine and Food Park, our winery building is 15,000 square feet, which includes a 13,500 square foot cellar, tank, warehouse and barrel area as well as a 1,500 square foot tasting room, gift shop and office.

  Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is said to be the king of wines. Our 2003 selection is no exception. The color is an inky crimson-purple. In the aroma and on the palate there are multiple layers of black cherries, black raspberries, blueberries, dried plums, vanilla, licorice and spice. The wine is ample bodied, complex, and boasts a lingering finish.
  Chardonnay
The 2004 Kestrel Chardonnay is a powerful and particularly well balanced Chardonnay. It is rich and full bodied wine, bursting with mineral, citrus, apple, and spice. As the layers unfold a floral element seems to enchant the wine, as it dances across the mineral backbone. The aromas and flavors linger on the palate for what seems to be an eternity. This wine shows the full potential of Washington State Chardonnay and the Wente clone in particular.
  Estate Sangiovese
This wine possesses a deep ruby red color and intense aromas of black cherry, sour cherry, and blackberry. On the palate you will experience an extremely full bodied and well balanced Sangiovese, with notes of vanilla, cedar and leather, intertwined with the dark cherry and blackberry. Because of the naturally high acidity of Sangiovese this wine is the perfect accompaniment to food.
Lady In Red - Third Edition
This wine possesses a sensual ruby-purple color. In the aroma you will find luscious ripe straw-berry, cherry, currant and blueberry fruit flavors that expose themselves in one's glass. The wine ripples with structure and finishes with a lingering cherry, cedar, and cigar notes.
  Lady in Red (4th Edition)
This wine possesses a deep ruby-red color. In the bouquet you will find ripe strawberry, cherry, currant, licorice, black pepper, vanilla and blueberry fruit flavors. The wine demonstrates firm structure, and finishes with lingering cherry, cedar, and tobacco notes. Blend: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 3% Syrah and 2% Sangiovese.
  Merlot
The 2003 Merlot is a big, full bodied, deeply colored wine full of flavors of blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, dried fruits, and dark cherries. Layered behind these notes are spicy tones of tobacco, oak, cedar, and vanilla, followed by a long lingering finish. The firm tannins will allow you to enjoy this wine now or cellar it for many years to come.
  Pure Platinum 2nd Edition
This wine possesses the brilliant spice of the Gewürztraminer grape and the lingering perfume of the Viognier. In the nose you will find hints of violets, lilacs, orange blossoms, nutmeg and cinnamon. The mouth explodes with sweet citrus such as tangerines, mandarins, and tangelos. The long lingering finish is sweet clover honey.
  Sangiovese Rosé
This wine is particularly aromatic, boasting tropical fruit flavors like guava and papaya. The taste is delightfully refreshing with hints of strawberry, rose petals and sweet spice. This is the perfect sipping wine for a lazy summer afternoon, and would pair beautifully with barbecue.
  Syrah
The color is extremely dark purple. In the aroma you will find copious quantities of ripe berries, blackberries, huckleberries, black licorice and leather, a light flavor of clove and luscious black sweet cherries. This is a full bodied wine with a lingering finish of black current, berries, vanilla, and toast. This is the wine you want to enjoy with friends and fine food.
  Viognier
The color is light straw. The aromas are floral, with hints of honey, lemon, lime, orange zest and ripe summer apples. The flavors echo the aromas. The body is rich and mouth filling with a great combination of luscious fruit and crisp acidity. I would recommend serving this wine as an aperitif, or with simply prepared foods such as sautéed seafood seasoned with fragrant herbs, like tarragon or basil.
