Johnson's Alexander Valley Wines

Johnson's Alexander Valley Wines Visiting Johnson's Alexander Valley Winery is indeed a unique experience. Basset hounds will undoubtedly show you the way to the tasting room, where you can taste Alexander Valley wines and listen to Tom's pipe organ music. The organ takes up one complete wall in the winery, and is now computer controlled. Johnson's Alexander Valley Wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, White Zinfandel, Johannisburg Riesling, and a lusious Late Harvest Zinfandel. (1990)

Directions
From Highway 101, take the Dry Creek Road exit and turn left on Healdsburg Avenue. Turn right on Alexander Valley Road, and follow about 4 miles. This road makes a sharp right curve which turns into 128. Follow about 1-1/2 miles to Johnson's Alexander Valley Wines on your right.

  1990 LATE HARVEST ZINFANDEL
The late harvest is something we have been able to do only 5 times in our 22 years. This particular vintage is not very sweet with only 0.75% Residual suger. The alcohol at 16.5% makes up for the lack of sweetness. We recommend it highly with Chocolate Mousse.
  1992 Diamond Springs Pinot Noir
Made from 100% varietal, aged briefly in oak barrels, the 1992 Pinot Noir has a hint of spice with a heavy aroma of ripe cherries and a backbone of soft tannins. It is a full bodied Pinot Noir, ideal for serving with veal, chicken or lamb entrees. Only 400 cases were produced. It will sell out quickly!
  1993 DIAMOND SPRINGS CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Critics are fond of saying that California Cabernet Sauvignons are released too young, so Diamond Springs has been fortunate to find a source of well-aged, discretely oak-enhanced Napa Valley Cabernet for its first release. The 1993 vintage was a year that celebrated good maturity and high fruit flavors. Pleasant and mature, the 93 is a good choice for dinner tonight, at home or at a favorite restaurant.
  1995 ELJ Cabernet Sauvignon
This wine is one of the nicest Cabernets we have produced. It comes from one acre. We have named this vineyard after Tom's mother, Erma Louise Johnson (ELJ). We have no wires and we keep the production down low so that the quality is high. It is a heavy bodied cab with a lot of potential for aging and very drinkable now. That is the beauty of Alexander Valley Cabernets.
  1996 White Zinfandel
Extremely light, extremely refreshing, not too sweet, but enough to make a great sipping wine. Great with fruit and cheese or even with your Sunday morning brunch. This is a great summer picnic wine. Next Wine Selection
  Chardonnay
The 1996 Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 18 months in small French oak barrels. This judicious use of oak resulted in a smooth, buttery finish with tantalizing hints of vanilla, with true Chardonnay character shining through. Only 266 cases were produced.
  Johannisberg Riesling
Extremely light, extremely refreshing, not too sweet, but enough to make a great sipping wine. Great with fruit and cheese or even with your Sunday morning brunch.
  Zinfandel
This vintage is extremely popular. In the tasting room, every one comments on how peppery it is. It is a full bodied Zin with a great future. This bottling produced 150 cases only 50 are left, so order soon.
