  Cabernet Franc,
Valley View Vineyard Cabernet Franc had a banner year in 2003. Warm summer temperatures allowed these grapes to fully ripen, giving this wine color, body, flavor, aroma, and themes of blackberry and blueberry. This Cabernet Franc was aged for 19 months in 1 - 5 year old French oak barrels.
  Cabernet Sauvignon,
This is a sleek, refined, elegant, Bordeaux style of Cabernet that will appeal to fans of the Bordeaux classics. With undeniable accents of spice and toast from the relatively high percentage of French oak barrels, the wine is wound together, somewhat tightly at this stage, by its soulful fruit essences of black currant, black cherry, leather and the good earth. Fruit tannins are mature and smooth, giving structure and length to the fine finish. This wine will be drinking well by the spring of ’03 and can be expected to evolve towards its zenith by around 2010.
  Cabernet Sauvignon-Cote del Sol,
2006 Gold Medal Winner, "Best of Class"! Cabernet grapes for our “Cote del Sol”, our reserve-level Cabernet, are hand-harvested from the south facing side of the vines only, which grow on a narrow, twenty-two row slope on our Valley View Vineyard. The Cabernet is then co-fermented with 8% Syrah from the same vineyard, which adds a spicy, jammy note to the new French-oak infused wine. Black cherry, currant, and cassis aromas and flavors, with firm yet supple structure, suggest a long life for this vintage.
  Cabernet Sauvignon-Valley View,
This is a sleek, refined, elegant, Bordeaux style of Cabernet that will appeal to fans of the Bordeaux classics. With undeniable accents of spice and toast from the relatively high percentage of French oak barrels, and it’s soulful fruit essences of black currant, black cherry, leather and the good earth. 10% Merlot blend.
  Chardonnay - Santa Barbara County,
In this unusually warm year the vintage began at least three weeks earlier than normal for Chardonnay. Early spring weather was cold, retarding the vines early growth and ultimately limiting crop size. The grapes were hand harvested and delivered to the winery in small bins where they were gently pressed and cold fermented. After a long fermentation the new wine was racked to French oak barrels and patiently aged for seven months. This is a luscious, well balanced Santa Barbara Chardonnay with fresh, vibrant pineapple and tropical fruit aromas and flavors.
  Chardonnay-Goodchild Vineyard,
This award winning vineyard, located along Foxen Canyon Road near the village of Sisquoc in the Santa Maria Valley, produces consistently outstanding Chardonnay. For this bottling we selected our oldest vines which ripen slowly in this cool climate. The hand harvested grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in French oak barrels, two-thirds of which were new. The wine completed a natural secondary fermentation while in barrel. This is a rich and luscious Chardonnay with a trademark aroma of ripe tropical fruit and toasty, pineapple and mango-like flavors.
  Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc,
The effects of Botrytis Cinerea are well known. This 'noble rot' attacks the nearly ripe grapes late in the growing season, piercing the grape skins and allowing the moisture to escape causing the berries to shrivel and shrink, much like raisins. The juice remaining is unusually concentrated and sweet. This wine was harvested from fantastically concentrated, hand selected Sauvignon Blanc grapes at 36 degrees brix. It was fermented in French oak barrels and allowed to stop fermenting naturally with 13% residual sugar. It was aged to a mellow perfection with eighteen months in French oak barrels and is now ready to enjoy by itself or with desserts. Full of ripe honey, peach, nectarine, orange blossom, and pineapple fruit, this is truly a decadent dessert wine.
  Mandolina Barbera,
From the Los Alamos Vineyards, this wine brings an unmistakable cranberry aroma infused with ripe, black cherry which is fresh and clean. Added notes of complexity come from a spicy melange of sage, cumin and black pepper. Typical of Italian reds, this wine is quite soft and low in tannin. Daniel Gehrs - Winemaker
  Mandolina Dolcetto,
This early ripening grape, “little sweet one” produces a supple, elegant wine with mild tannins. Fermented cool to extract the blackberry, black cherry, tea and tanned leather qualities and aged for one year in French oak, enjoy with your favorite pasta. Drink within two to five years of the vintage.
  Mandolina Nebbiolo,
In 2000 a long growing season provided us with fully mature grapes by early-mid November. After two weeks of combined cold soaking and fermentation, the wine was aged in seasoned French oak barrels for 29 months. The result of such patience is a smooth and succulent wine with a mellow, barrel aged palate and complex, dried cherry, tanned leather, spicy sage and thyme flavor profile.Daniel Gehrs - winemaker
  Mandolina Pinot Grigio,
The hand harvested grapes are whole cluster pressed for minimal color extraction, chilled and cold fermented for crisp, lively flavor with natural acidity. We finish and bottle this wine during the cold winter months to retain optimal Pinot Grigio flavors of key lime, citrus blossom and a hint of wild strawberry.Enjoy with salads, lighter first courses or sipping with many appetizers.
  Mandolina Rosato,
Rosato is the Italian word for rose. In Southern France and Italy these dry, fruit-driven wines enjoy immense popularity. Not only are they food friendly, light, fruity and delicious but they project an image of youth and vitality that is compelling. We lightly drained freshly crushed juice from the Nebbiolo and Barbera varieties, blending them and cold fermenting the cuvee to near dryness. The wine was bottled in early February of 2004. This is a delicious pink wine with aromas and flavors of cranberry, raspberry, wild strawberry and brown spices. Enjoy with salad entrees, appetizers, chicken, cold duck specialties and salmon. Use your imagination. This wine is a favorite in our tasting room and it will rise to the occasion! DANIEL GEHRS - WINEMAKER
  Mandolina Sangiovese,
Sangiovese is steadily gaining a foothold in California where the cooler climate locations, like our Los Alamos Vineyard, are proving to be the most promising. We thinned the crop heavily to ensure proper ripening and fine, deep color. Fermentation was conducted in small, 1 1/2 ton fermenters with the floating cap punched down several times each day during a two week period. Aging was in French oak barrels for 18 months. Distinguished by aromas of wild strawberries, tea, and leather with flavors of wild cherry and anise, this wine will enhance Italian and Mediterranean cuisine.
  Mandolina Toccata Riserva,
Our “Riserva” is an expression of the best of the Super Tuscans; rare and expensive blends of traditional Italian varieties including Sangiovese (35%) and Freisa (10%), together with a high percentage of classic Bordeaux varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Merlot (5%), and Cabernet Franc (5%). The final blend is determined in the second spring after the vintage and then aged a further 3-4 months in new French oak prior to bottling at two years old. This wine is rich and spicy with toasty notes of oak, wild berries, black tea, sweet earth, and forest dew.It will age for many years.
  Mandolina Toccata,
Toccata is our interpretation of the classic blends of Tuscany. It is based on traditional Italian varieties including Sangiovese (45%) and Freisa (15%) as well as the Bordeaux varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Merlot (10%), which have gained favor in more recent times. Each variety is vinified and aged individually for up to 18 months. The final blend is determined shortly prior to bottling. This 2002 is smooth and spicy with wild strawberry, red raspberry, black currant, black cherry and violet notes defining aroma and flavor. Enjoy with all Mediterranean cuisine.
  Merlot,
The grapes for this wine were grown in our Los Alamos Vineyards where cool nights and mild, sunny days combine to provide a longer growing season to develop their maximum varietal character. This is a rich, darkly pigmented, complex Merlot with black cherry, tea, earth and spice nuances. Try it with a Rib-eye steak or Tri-tip.

  Queen of Hearts Merlot,
Blackberry, raspberry and ripe cherry aromas accent the deep red color of this wine. Dried plum, black cherry and hints of vanilla combine with smooth, elegant tannins on the palate. This is a lush, well-balanced wine produced from grapes grown on our Los Alamos estate vineyard that is drinkable now, but should age well. It was fermented in open top boxes using punch downs followed by a brief post fermentation maceration. After pressing, the wine was aged for 16 months in approximately 20% new French Oak.
  Queen of Hearts Pinot Noir,

Black cherry, raspberry, and cola aromas with hints of earthiness come together making this a signature Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. On the palate are rich fruits, complemented by the 25% new French oak aging creating smooth, fine tannins. A long finish bursting with dark fruit completes the experience.
  Queen of Hearts Sauvignon Blanc,
To further define and preserve the unique, almost pungent character of the Sauvignon Blanc grape we elected to ferment and age this wine in temperature controlled tanks without the use of wood. This level of control retains the fresh gooseberry and ripe pear fruit aspects that make this such an ideal wine with chicken, fish and other types of seafood. A final note of interest and complexity arises from a small percentage of Semillon, a kindred Bordeaux white grape which gives body and smoothness to our wine, as it does character!
  Riesling,
This is a dry California-styled Riesling, bigger and more full bodied than German Rieslings. It was cold fermented and aged before a spring bottling to preserve freshness and the honeyed, melon-tinged flavors typical of the vineyard.

This 100% varietal Syrah was grown in our cool climate Los Alamos vineyard (78%) from two distinct clones and our warmer Valley View Vineyard east of Solvang (22%). The 2002 growing season was typically long and the harvest for these grapes was not completed until late October. Fermentations were carried out in small, open topped fermenters which were punched down regularly for nearly two weeks. This wines was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. A bold, dark, rich Syrah, this vintage will improve in bottle over the next 7-8 years.

This wine is casual and user-friendly; wonderful with salmon, salads, sausages, and more. The ripe strawberry and cherry flavors come from mature fully ripe red grapes giving it structure, body and finesse beyond the pale of mere rose.
