Esterlina Vineyards Esterlina Vineyards is a family operated boutique winery located near the Mendocino coast, nestled in the highlands above Philo, California. We produce a variety of exceptional fine wines in limited quantities from grapes grown primarily in our family's own vineyards including our Cole Ranch. Esterlina wines are handcrafted, there is no assembly line manufacturing case after case. Our family grows the grapes, makes the wine, and bottles each varietal we offer. While numerous vintners and "brand wines" offer similar varietals, few wineries make their wines the way we do: bottle by bottle. From our world-class award winning Russian River Valley and Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs, to our sought after Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, wine enthusiasts love Esterlina wines.

Holmes Ranch Road is about 11.4 miles north of Boonville, California. Take 101 north past Santa Rosa to Cloverdale. Follow the signs to highway 128 north exit (the last Cloverdale exit). Follow the 128 north past Booneville and Philo. When you see Navarro Vineyards on the right side of the road you will go 2 miles farther and see Clark Rd. Opposite Clark Rd. you will see a group of mail boxes. That will be Holmes Ranch Rd. (a dirt road) and go approx. 2 miles to 1200 Holmes Ranch Rd. and you will see our sign then our winery on the left side of the road.

  2004 Cole Ranch Merlot
All the wines we made from the 2004 vintage are extraordinary. The color is gorgeous—a rich garnet. There are lots of black fruit aromas, with plum, clove and a bit of smoky oak, too. The flavors are ripe, rich and complex, with black cherry, blackberry, and cocoa. With firm tannins, good acidity, and a lingering finish, this wine will appeal to most red wine lovers. We produced 923 cases of this gem. Try it with lamb, prime rib, and beef short ribs. Esterlina 2004 Cole Ranch Merlot
  2004 Sonoma County Port - Esterlina Wines
This year's Port is blend of Syrah from the Janian Vineyard in Sonoma Mountain, Cabernet Sauvignon from our Alexander Valley property, and a small percentage of Merlot. Like the previous vintage, this is rich, smooth and complex, with flavors of red berry, black cherry and a bit of baking spice. We didn't make very much of this varietal so it will not be around for long. 300 cases. Bottle Size 375ml
  2005 Mario’s Gran Roja (Sonoma County)
Our father is always asking us to make a “big, chewy, full-bodied red.” This wine is made and named for him. We took our Alexander Valley Cab, our Cole Ranch Merlot, some Syrah from our new Everett Ridge property, and added a tincture of Bacigalupi Petite Sirah. We arrived at a very good bottle of wine. And we priced the wine to make it a terrific value. The Gran Roja (Spanish for “Big Red”) begins with ripe blackberry, plum and oak scents. The mouth has wonderful flavors of juicy dark cherry, plum and spice, with medium tannins. The finish is long and spicy. While it will pair well with the fare that accompanies a traditional Bordeaux wine, Gran Roja is terrific by itself. 498 cases.
  Cole Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
This is yet another in a long line of excellent wines from our family’s Cole Ranch appellation-vineyard. This Cabernet is a beautiful burgundy color with toasty oak, vanilla, and black fruit aromas. Flavors of juicy cherry and currant are framed by oak, medium tannins, and good acidity. The wine will be splendid with age but it drinks very well today.
  Esterlina 2004 Anderson Valley Sterling Family Estate Pinot Noir
This wine is similar to our ’02 Estate Pinot Noir, with intense, concentrated flavors and ripe fruit, but with slightly better balance. We have no problems opining that our 2004 vintage of Pinot Noir from this vineyard is worth collecting. It starts with stellar red and black fruit aromas, in addition to sweet vanilla-oak and mushroom hints. The mouth has wonderful flavors of ripe and juicy dark cherry, spiced cranberry and a bit of mushroom, with the classic acidity always present our estate pinot. The finish is long and spicy.
2004 Estate Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley, Esterlina Estate)
  Esterlina 2005 Chardonnay Russian River Valley
Esterlina’s Chardonnays have typically been a combination of fruit, a bit of oak and great acidity. This vintage is similar. Lots of green and citrus aromas, including pineapple and lemon on the nose, with a hint of spice. The mouth starts with lots of apple and pineapple, but there is a bit of oak and there is a slight nutty flavor, too. The wine ends with a terrific finish. Try this wine with chicken alfredo, pan-seared halibut, or shrimp in a garlic cream. 2007 Gold Medal Wine SF Cronicle Wine Competition Esterlina 2005 Russian River Chardonnay
  Esterlina Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Medium ruby in color with soft garnet edges. This big red comes through with ripe and elegant fruit very appealing to the sophisticated cab lover. Flavors of black cherry and plum are generously balanced with spices of sage and currant. The soft dry tannins and gentle oak give the feel of a more mature vintage. This fruit is planted in the warm highly regarded Alexander Valley and is family owned. Serve with beef, lamb and tomato based pasta sauces.
  Esterlina Cole Ranch Off-dry Riesling
This Riesling is perhaps the best we have ever grown. The ’05 Off-dry has the classic Cole Ranch nose, with pineapple, green apple and spice hints. Lots of grapefruit and honeydew flavors, with a strong mineral undercurrent. Great acidity, and a hint of residual sugar – a bit less than the ’04-- make this an excellent wine for warmer weather. It should pair well with most Asian foods, curry, and glazed ham.
  Esterlina Russian River Zinfandel
This incredible Zinfandel fruit comes from the Bacigalupi vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Aged for 18 months in French Oak, this wine has a beautiful nose of sweet vanilla, raspberries and chocolate. Perfectly balanced, the wine has lively dark berry flavors, with a touch of spice. There is a peppery chocolate thing going on in the mid-palate that defies characterization. The experience culminates with a long, lingering finish; truly a wine for the ages.
  Reserve Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 2005 - Esterlina Wines
This is classic Longtime Esterlina Wine Club members know that we do not designate a wine as a "Reserve" without good reason. Our 2005 Reserve Pinot Noir is beautiful. It starts with a gorgeous nose, full of ripe red fruit, floral and earthy mineral aromas. The mouth is about ripe red cherries and berries, with good acidity and a long finish.   Sauvignon Blanc 2006 Sonoma County - Esterlina Vineyards
2006 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc Our 2006 Sauvignon Blanc is full of bright citrus flavors plenty of grapefruit, lime and lemon. With 100% stainless steel fermentation, it is a very refreshing, enjoyable bottle of wine. Pair it with lemon chicken pasta, spicy foods, or just quaff it. 385 cases produced
  Syrah Sonoma Mountain (Janian Vineyard) 2005 Esterlina Vineyards
2005 Esterlina Syrah Sonoma Mountain(Janian Vineyard) The third vintage of wine we have released from this vineyard, it is a classic, cool weather Syrah--think northern Rhone, rather than California. It starts with plum, blueberry and smoky, cigar box aromas. The mouth has wonderful flavors of ripe dark berries and pepper, with silky tannins and good acidity. The finish is great, too. Enjoy.
